Phantom Delivery
You may have spotted the beginnings of my '86 Monte Carlo Delivery in Pauls pics from the last meeting.
Well i've progressed to filler and a test coat of primer.
Still a long way to go but here's where i'm at.
Following a chat with Bryce paint (a while off yet) will be mid green with wood panelling.
Engine will be the injected SBC from the kit and I haven't decided on wheels or stance yet (slammed? Jacked up in the back? Stock for the factory look?).

Not too far Unforgiven.
The box was just on the shelf next to the bench
As soon as I opened this the squared off lines said "easy wagon or delivery conversion".

Re: Phantom Delivery
Actually it screams a two tone paint job, bright green on top with satin black on the bottom and a bright purple or brushed aluminium to seperate them, slammed on 20's with side exiting pipes just before the wheels..... Just my opinion.

Re: Phantom Delivery
Ready for paint on the body.
That's a base coat of white enamel. Its not going to be green anymore and its not getting woodgrain.

Re: Phantom Delivery
Here's a tip for you all.
Don't polish white paint whilst sitting watching the TV.
Artificial light won't show up where you've polished through to the primer. Daylight will...

Re: Phantom Delivery
OK. Speaking of vans. I've got 3 colours on this now.
A quick polish and then it's on with the fine line tape followed by the last colour.
Pics when that's done.

This is "straight from the gun" with the tape ripped off.
Ice Blue Pearl & True Blue Pearl over Pontiac Engine Blue Metallic & White Pearl. Panels on sides are Creation Blue.

Re: Phantom Delivery
Thanks folks.
There's still time for me to stuff it up as it needs polishing, a few bleed unders removing, one or 2 decals and clear.

Re: Phantom Delivery
And stuff it up I did.
I fogged on silver car paint forgetting everything else was enamel.
Oops
So following sanding back (far too much filler to strip it), repriming, sanding, priming, sanding, undercoating, sanding, spraying, cursing (the decanted paint kept separating into blue with white blobs), touching up, polishing, decaling, clearing & polishing here is paint job #2.
Not as fancy as #1 but much better executed and more what you'd be likely to see at a car show concept vehicle (which is what I was thinking).
Colour is Ford Deep Aqua under Acrylic clear with TPB ultraviolet bling powder.
Decals are from the Revell kit plus a few home made
Now comes detail painting, lights etc & assembly. Still plenty of opportunity to stuff up again...
