CHoPs
This is the next bike.
Engine from Ponch/Jons ride in the Bone Daddy frame.
So far i've started frame mods (losing the softail rear end and making it rigid) and thrown most of the Kwak engine into the stripping tank to dechrome it.
Hammozed, any idea if the big zeds had lacquered aluminium cases or if they were painted silver?

Re: CHoPs
I'm interested to see how you build this one but I must ask why? Isn't the Chips bike worth some money?

Re: CHoPs
I bought the CHiPs kit specifically for this build and didn't pay much.
Don't know if it's valuable but in the end it's a plastic model kit and so should be built (OK, raided for parts).

Re: CHoPs
Oh man that brings back some memories - I made a real mess of that CHiPs bike when I was a boy. Would love to have another crack at one - just for old times' sake!

Re: CHoPs
As it's Scratchbuilding season again in Victoria and i've been motivated by someone elsewhere I dragged this one down from the top shelf at the weekend. Previously I didn't get much further than assembling the engine block and frame.
Real choppers don't have suspension so i've hardtailed the frame (was oringinally a poor attempt at being a soft-tail) and since taking the pic have also removed about 5mm from the bottom tubes.

So true... I have about a dozen things I am half heartedly cutting off sprue, test fitting and putting back in boxes on a daily basis. So frustrating not being able to paint anything...

Re: CHoPs
not painted Fred, the Z1 were painted black, and of such high quality that the makers decided the best way to dispense with warranty paint claims was not to paint at all so they left rest bare alum straight outa the mold. Cheaper too. Until they developed better paint Z1R - 1978 were the next painted cases - black of course

Re: CHoPs
Thanks mate. All I can tell from the box art is that the engine was a silver colour.
