Just as long as Billy-Bob & Jolene don't get the party side of their mullets sucked into the fans...

Well he's probably got badly scarred knuckles and missing bits of skin and a few teeth from building it so what's some lost hair . You'll be able to tell which local's he's taken for a drive by the missing patches of hair . Sort of like my grandfathers shotgun , it had a bad habit of kicking up savagely and driving your thumb through your top lip . You could see the guy's who'd fired it and not held it tightly as they all had matching scars

Re: The sawmill special (1949 Ford Coupe)
I fiugured it was time to check up on what the boy's had been up to so snuck out to the shed for a quick look . I opened the door and it looked innocent enough sitting there with the bonnet closed ,
So curiosity got the better of me , I opened it up to find
Damn neat fit actually , the spark plug on number 8 cylinder is level with the original firewall position so it's only going to need a few mm's of "massaging" to make it fit . Just as well the radiator will be in the back ( ) as there isn't much room for it but it's close considering the engine is twice the length of the original . Pete and Will have given it's internal's a freshen up though I think Pete was in a rush to paint it , the original green might show through the new light green once it's been run for a while

Yes , well , that's what happens when the boy's are looking through the car mags and ring up the wrong "performance enhancing" company that advertised .... They wanted octane booster and got little blue pills instead , who would have thought it would have that much of an effect

Re: The sawmill special (1949 Ford Coupe)
Sorry for the slow progress guy's , getting distracted by some personal crap but it looks like I'll have more hobby time soon .
Anyway , most of the plumming from the blower to the engine is done , The boys found a rusted out Alfa with a rod through the block down the back of rotten row at the sawmill and swiped the twin weber's off it Looks like it's going to have to stay LHD too with the tunnel ram being as big as it is (like I said , it was being built as a couple of young guys with scrap metal would build it ) .
I've got to say though , it's very helpful for Ford to make the bonnets with direct drive superchargers in mind .....

Re: The sawmill special (1949 Ford Coupe)
Well there's been a bit of progress on this one , firstly the engine is mostly complete now (all photo's are from my phone , will have to get some decent ones for the engine forum when I get a new camera) and is installed in the frame and the colour for the body has been chosen ....
I've also been fiddling with wheels and bits and used narrow tyres on 1/2 mags with bigger wheel backings to mimic oversized brake drums .
And some super groovy 80's style box flares (made from sections of the roof I cut off it earlier...) . Still got to enlarge the front guards so the front will fit lower but it's all getting closer .

Re: The sawmill special (1949 Ford Coupe)
Finally dug this one out of the cupboard again ... Not a lot of progress other than reshaping the front guards to get the body to sit properly on the chassis , bit more needed yet but I'm getting enthused again for it now
Need to get the front a little lower yet and then start on the front styling around the blower .

Re: The sawmill special (1949 Ford Coupe)
This is progressing very nicely - completely different to what I thought it would be. Great engine work mate - if only the old moonshiners had this kind of power.
