Ferrari 360 Modena
After finishing up my Porsche, I had the urge to build another Tamiya kit, so pulled this one out of the stash as I have been threatening to build it for years now.
This kit is absolutely amazing. It could be marketed as a snap tite the tolerances are that fine – you literally don’t need to use glue for the most part.
So far I have got the engine partially together, the chassis and some interior parts painted.
I also found some ‘Windsor Blue’ paint in the garage, so cleaned the body up and gave it a lick of colour.

Re: Ferrari 360 Modena
Of course Allan you meant to say Ferrari...
Nice colour and unusual for a Ferrari although I think they wouldn't be thrilled about a Ford colour. Tamiya kits are still the best in my book and I agree with you Bryce, the tolerances are so fine as to be almost hand engineered in quality.

Re: Ferrari 360 Modena
Thanks guys.
Terry - Windsor blue is actually a Holden colour (HZ I think).
Mustang - the chassis is just dry brushed with a mixture of gold, black, silver, copper and brown.

Re: Ferrari 360 Modena
Been putting together this interior and was quite pleased with my efforts at using dry brushing to get some shadow into the light coloured seats and door panels.
[
Looks pretty good I reckon.
Then I noticed the lack of seat backs which is gonna stand out like the proverbial dog bollocks once every thing is assembled.
I just can’t believe Tamiya would be such tight arses and not give you a seat back in a kit of this quality…! Particularly as it will be so obvious on the finished model. What were they thinking?
So then I had to spend some time scratching some up out of plastic card. A task which I don’t mind doing, but would have preferred to do it before everything was painted and assembled.
And just to top things off, my tin of Humbrol enamel that I used for the interior has since dried up, so I have to buy another tin of number 71 just to paint the backs of the seats…PISSED OFF? You betcha…

Re: Ferrari 360 Modena
You're right Bryce, that is a very un Tamiya like thing to do. Almost like they were using someone elses moulds...
Nice save though. I probably would have just stuffed a load of filler in the back.

Re: Ferrari 360 Modena
Thanks guys.
Bit more progress to report. Engine is in and the lack of seat backs has been more than compensated for in the quality of the overall engineering of this kit – it goes together like a dream and looks fantastic with a bit of paint detailing:
Now onto polishing the body and then final assembly!

Thanks mate. It would be outrageous if they left open backs on a convertible. Still, you think they could throw some in for the coupe too...
