Italeri Landrover
Planning on building the Italeri Series 3 Landrover. Going with a basic green and white top (probably go with no top for the time being cause the roof seems to need some minor adjustment to fit properly. I'm only really doing this to get me back into the hobby as a practise. Just wondering if i should paint the chassis though.. It's already matte black plastic which would probably work well but i'm thinking maybe a semi gloss to give it the powder-coated effect. What do you guys think?

Re: Italeri Landrover
If this turns out well i might go for a Lara Croft replica which will require some bar work and tools.

Re: Italeri Landrover
Go for it - and while you're at it add a scale replica of Lara standing next to it.

Re: Italeri Landrover
Future idea. Not what I'm doing with this one Way to hard for my current abilities (or lack thereof). The Chassis on this model is moulded with black plastic, do you guys think its worth painting or leave it?

I say paint it , it's quick and easy in the scheme of things but will probably bug you later if you don't do it .

Paint it.
There's probably flash or mould separation lines to clean up anyway and that'll show up if you don't paint.

I reckon a 1-1 Lara next to it. Yeah!
The Landy is a great kit to build,

Re: Italeri Landrover
if it was me i would paint the chassis even tho its moulded in black, its just the norm for me to paint them as that way i can fix any defects such as joins, injection marks and separation lines which if left can really stand out on a finished model, just my opinion

Re: Italeri Landrover
I have ended up just touching on the imperfections on the chassis instead of painting the whole thing. I found that it was hard to figure which parts were even painted as the paint was so close to the plastic colour. Nearly finished the suspension/transmission/chassis but I've got a few days at work ahead of me so might not have progress for a bit. When i've got a rolling chassis ill send some pics. Also because there isn't an engine in this kit I'm wondering maybe if there was a suitable V8 to put in it? Maybe a 3.9 Range Rover?

Re: Italeri Landrover
Good luck finding a scale Rover V8. 1/24 is it?
Easy option is to stick in an SBC and call it a special.
Hard option is to scratch something (or badger Shoey - he'll knock you one up before you know it ).
You might possbily find a suitable small cube Buick V8 to start from but I doubt it.

Re: Italeri Landrover
Yeah 1/24. Although I think Shoey just threw a red 202 in the one he made which is a very common conversion for Australian Landies.

Re: Italeri Landrover
Any ideas on lowering? I've actually planned something similar to my old series 2 ute but a model will be much cheaper
I would just need a canvas, lowered ride height, different tires, bonnet removed, an engine, and possible an ifs front end without a diff so that the monster donk will fit.
