Running on empty DVD on special at target

I know it's not really 1:1 inspiration pic's but there are a lot of cool cars in it , I picked it up in Target today for $6.99 I've still got it on VHS but it's been played so many times that it takes a couple of minutes longer now than when it was new ...

Yer Bryce it's the same car mate . The patch is POP RIVETED and has sprayed in matt black "blown today gone tommorrow " near the patch ? From memory i was told the original motor was loaned and put in a 55 chevy which got stolen so she now runs a small block which as of couple of years ago broke and they were goin to build up another . Damn, that is sad. I did hear a few years ago it was destined for a rebuild to it's former glory, blower and all but that obviously hasn't happened.
Is there a gearhead in Australia that hasn't seen this movie at least 10 times. I'd love to see a sequel to this made today and watch the beast blow a few ricers away, maybe call it "Running on Empty/Son of Pissoff"
