Re: Toyota FJ 45 ute
Here is the latest update
The Cab- Fuel filler, door handles, and the inner guards with the drop section for the brake booster to sit in.
In the Cab the floor pan, fuel tanks with filler pipe, seats out of my parts box covered with Tamiya tape to replicate the canvas seat covers, seat runners and adjuster bar, centre console from parts box( think left over from Tamiya land cruiser). The Dash- taco, open ash tray, open glove box, cast gauge cluster, knobs and buttons are pin heads, speedo is one that I found in a $ shop toy and is a near perfect for size and style. Roof Console forgot to take pictures will post some soon has 3 radios and mic's and a storage area, working sun visors and rear vision mirror. The Nudge bar has warn winch and some driving lights, that's about it so far now it's on to the under coat and bog stage

Re: Toyota FJ 45 ute
Thanks guy's for the feed back. Shoey I thinks that everyone here wants to see you finish your cruiser as its a truly
top build. Geoff and everyone one else this is the colour that I have chosen as I like the FJ's in red its a Nissan pathfinder
colour same colour as mine, its from a power plus spray can (Super cheap auto) PJ5043 Shanghai Red COB clear over base
this is after the first clear coat so 3 more to go. It's one of my favourite reds I was going to go with the Suzuki deep peal blue (Almost a metallic midnight blue) which my old FJ40 was painted in I still have about a litre left but am going to use it on the 66 Pontiac Bonneville that I traded with Sports850 (Ian) its looks a like a great kit with good detail
The cab still has a little bit of work to go before its ready for painting

Re: Toyota FJ 45 ute
In the states and Japan Red was a stock colour I think it was an option here as well as olive drab but the white and grey were the most popular. or the ones that they only carried in stock as they were the biggest sellers.

I thought they were all grey. All the ones I ever saw in the bush were anyway.

Re: Toyota FJ 45 ute
I think it was a case of if you want it soon you have to have grey or wait till they came from Japan if you wanted a different colour

Re: Toyota FJ 45 ute
I have been working a bit on the chassis done the shocks and mounts detailing the motor ect, and I got an email from Sebastian Lebeau from www.scale-auto-style.com in Quebec Canada and the body looks like its going on a trip, at this stage he will be casting it. But if I decide that I can't let it go I will be making a new master for him. I will end up with a few body's so if you get in and let me know I might have a deal for you or you will have to import one. Which in a way is sad as I would like some one here to cast them I am sending an email to TPB tonight to see if they are interested in doing it, the body needs to be plug cast as it has a lot of detail inside the cab. If any one knows of anyone else that might be interested in casting it please let me know

Re: Toyota FJ 45 ute
I simply cannot believe the detail you have put into this Kynan , I'm expecting you to show a box that the kit came out of at the end of the build and you saying "fooled ya's" . It is just brilliant .

Ian
I do have a very rear and old esci BJ44 soft top in my stash to be built one day, stockish as I can manage as I don't want to cut up the body but will have to correct the mistakes it's worth big $$ in the states but not enough to retire on. lol but this one is all mine

Re: Toyota FJ 45 ute
Disgustingly clean Kynan.
Consider yourself chastised.
Tidy it again and we'll have to seriously review your membership of the Dirty Desk Association...
Nice work. Is that just paint on the tyres or some secret scale mud compound?

Re: Toyota FJ 45 ute
Love it - great work!
Are you going to make a short wheel base wagon version as well? I would love to get my hands on one as well as a set of those tyres!

Please Don't Zenrat I only cleaned it up because I could not even use a corner of my cutting mat. It was either buy another Desk to use or have a clean up.
The Tyres are painted with thinned model master Raw Umber I have it thinned where it will run in to the groves and will dry splotchy, Its not as thin as a wash just a bit thicker than to air brush. I find that is a great base colour for mud, dust and grime for any tyre that goes on gravel or dirt. I then go over it with washes and pastels to finish it but have not done it yet.
Brice the SWB is next to be done I will also be sent to Scale Auto Style in Canada to be cast I get a few extra resin ones sent as part of the payment I will send you one down and the tyres and some other bits to go with it.
