Re: Italeri Volvo VN780 and car carrier trailer
Finally found some of my previously built mini's today so put them on the trailer , still haven't found the decals for the truck yet though ....
top row from left is the first Tamiya mini I ever did , all brush painted , then a Tamiya mini with alfoil covered seats , formula one style bonnet scoop and home made rear wing (I was 16 at the time ...) , Fujimi mini 25 , Fujimi Rover mini . Bottom row from left Tamiya mini painted with "sugarcane" acrylic I had left over from one of my previous full size mini's , Tamiya racing mini , Tamiya Monte Carlo rally mini and then Tamiya body on scratch built chassis as a poor attempt at a funny car which is why it's hiding right up the front of the truck
and now some more progress on the new mini project , bit obvious as to what it will be now ... The body will sit lower on the chassis yet and a bull bar will cover the chassis overhanging the front end Lot of body work to be done on this one yet though .

Hey Ian, the decals for the truck are in my model room! You sent the chequered section to me ages ago for a project. You kept the dash and truck decals but I ended up with the flag section mate.
Cheers Rob

Re: Italeri Volvo VN780 and car carrier trailer
A constant source of annoyance and embarrassment for Watto is a thread over on Ausmini of people getting photo's of watto from behind without him knowing and posting them so rather than trying to find a figure that looks like Watto I want a standing figure that's bent over that I can position as if he was looking at something on the truck as a vuisual "private joke" . I've looked at some of the figures in the Tamiya sets in stock at Scale Automobilia but there wasn't anything bending over , Does anyone know of such a figure and where I could get one ?[/quote]
When next you call in, I will give you some.
mmmmmmmm, you like men bending over , fishnet stockings ........... whats the go mate ?

I've already got some here somewhere that a mate printed up for me Dodge , but I'll make some more if I can't find them
Huge thanks to Rod for giving me a flatbed trailer kit and a standing figure bending over for the truck (aka Watto) today among other things Marshie , I now know where Rod's hidden bunker of shame is and I'll show you when you're up this way :p

Thats wicked truck and carrier set-up mate, looking forward to the monster mini, many years ago our local speedway had 4 x mini bodies on home made chassis with 253 v8s and sprint car rear wheels on all 4 courners , they were used as push cars for the sprinters, they were mini monster mini's, kids(and adults) loved them.

Because torture is much more fun
Thank's to Rod for the Frehauff trailer kit , it's mostly built now except for the deck which was missing , going to make it from balsa and evergreen tubing (when I can get some) .
The trailer built as per the directions , I had to build it first before working out where to cut the chassis as I wasn't sure how it would look till the suspension sub units were installed ,
Working out where to cut to make it into the front trailer of a B-double combo ,
The trailer cut before being filed and finished ,
rear of trailer mostly finished , rear bumper and lights were put on after this photo ,
B-double combo together , it's about 1.3 meters long now , going to have to build it's own case as it no longer fits in the cabinet it was in ....
and with a temporary deck on it so it can carry the mini monster truck and minuki for a photo
Finally found the Mini Experience decals , and starting to paint the figure of Watto ...
Now , should it stay as a B-double or should it be a B-triple ....
Also , does anyone want the steel rolls that come with the frehauf trailer kit , I'm not going to use them and someone else might be able to use them on a truck or in a diorama ???

fat141 wrote:Mate, how long is the new deck that you need, may be able to help you out (again)
I'll have half your garage at my place at this rate Rod .... The deck needs to be about 350mm long but it's no drama's if you don't have anything that fits

Don't suppose you'd have any photo's of them Dale , or know of where any of them ended up ?

Strictly from a modeller's point of view that looks awesome. It seems quite a load for a truck to move but I'm sure the big Volvo would have no problems with it. Looks like a nice kit and your extra scratch work is top class.

Re: Italeri Volvo VN780 and car carrier trailer
Thank's Tezza , it's been fun even if it has taken a loooong time to finish
I am using the first rule of journalism for this build "Never let the truth get in the way of a good story" I was looking at it the other day wondering if it would be feasible in real life and started working out the weights etc , lets just say I wouldn't like to try and drive it up the Moonbi range , but then again it would be the same as any other Volvo with a caravan

Re: Italeri Volvo VN780 and car carrier trailer
If she's only hauling mini's Ian she'd do it easily, we use to load around 36 to 41 tonne of paper onto B Doubles depending on if they were mass managed.
