1932 FORD HIBOY
Here's another recently completed project from me. It's based on the Revell '32 roadster kit and uses a home made resin five window body, resin stock firewall, Buick nailhead V8 with triples and scratchbuilt headers. Big 'n little white walls with '40 ford caps and trim rings and a moon tank out front finish things off nicely I reckon. Hope you like it...

Top build Bryce - and great detailing on the engine. Love the exhaust pipe heat discolouring. Excellent paint too - she's a beauty!

Bodies available any time Carps. The mold is starting to deteriorate a bit, but I'd be happy to turn out a few copies for you if you want to cover the cost of the resin.

Re: 1932 FORD HIBOY
What are you using to outline the doors and other panels on your models Bryce? Is it a draftman's pen or fine brush work?

I use both actually. Usually I just get heaps of Humbrol black enamel in there and then polish off the excess after it dries. For things like cowl vents where the indent is not as well defined (or has filled up with paint) I use a felt tip pen. The best trick for door lines, etc. is to scribe them nice and deep before you start painting. They are usually too shallow and will just get filled with paint if you go straight from the box.

Re: 1932 FORD HIBOY
"Mad props" is hip-hop for "thanks" or "thank you" - it's a very special honour to have this said to you. Now how does an old fart like me know this? Well my young students always say "mad props sir" whenever I help them solve a problem.

Re: 1932 FORD HIBOY
Very Cool car, but there is a bit of a delemer! The headers are for a 350 chevy... Nailheads have a different port set up like this
But its got a killer rake and i will certainly try to replicate it!
Good Job

Re: 1932 FORD HIBOY
WOW – this is a blast from the past. Thanks for the nice words guys.
There's no dilemma here. I’m aware of the nailhead exhaust port arrangement. But these headers fit and I couldn’t be bothered modifying them. This engine also runs a Windsor sump and a top loader gear box - outrageous! Like Paul said in a previous post, we don’t count rivets here and after all, it’s only a model car.
No probs Bill – what you need is some enamel paint (I use Humbrol and Testors brands) a wooden toothpick and a cotton tip. Simply slap on the paint, give it a wipe with the cotton tip to get any excess off and then once it’s dry (it must be dry otherwise you will get thousands of cotton fibres in the wet paint) give it a polish around the edges. The paint won’t stick to the chrome, so it’s easy to polish off. You can use the toothpick to clean up any hard to reach spots too. HTH
