'32 Coupe
Since I've got the Sedan already on the go, I thought I'd get started on the Coupe.
The Sedan will be modifed & this Coupe will be box stock. There's enough parts in this kit to keep me interested.
I'm trying to not "think" too much with this one & just get on with the job. I got the engine, wheels & body primed in less than a day. Black wash, etc still needs added here & there.
I used a cheap can of "Aussie Export" grey primer thinking it was primer but it's more like a paint that is grey primer in colour. So I'm gunna clear it & see what that looks like.

Nice going so far - the wheels look cool and that colour is not bad at all. Like you say just a coat of clear may be all that's needed?

Re: '32 Coupe
Thanks guys
Kane, I thought about not clearing it but I couldn't help myself. Plus now that there's decals, I thought they would look better cleared. Chassis is also up and running.
I thought I did a better job sanding the tyre tread down but I see that will need doing again.
Started on the interior, I used an old sheet of bmf as masking tape for the stripes. I figured it would be easyer to cut than normal tape & it was.
for looking!
Joe.

Re: '32 Coupe
That candy stripe interior looks awesome! And I'm sure the Collingwood fans will love it too...
I probably would have tried to dish the rims a bit to better match the too-wide tyres they give you in this kit, but otherwise this one is looking fantastic Joe.

Re: '32 Coupe
What exactly does "dish the rims" mean? Is it to sink the rim further into the wheel? This model is to be built box stock, if I dish the rims, does mean it's now modified? Thanks.Bryce wrote:

Progress;
Pretty much everything's done, just need to put it all together & add the door handles, etc.

First off, I think your coupe looks awesome, so feel free to completely ignore my comments...
Secondly, dishing the rims would make them deeper so that the centre of the wheel would sit more in the middle of the tyre rather than at the front. You could (probably) do this quite easily by using the inside back half of the rim in the front.
Thirdly, why do you have to build box stock? Are the model cops watching you...?

Re: '32 Coupe
That's a great looking coupe. The interior, dash especially, is very neat. What do you use for the black highlight around the door? Do you do it before or after the clear,Joe? I'd like to try that on my T-Bolt.It needs it as the lines don't stand out much in the rose pearl color. Thanks bud. Best.Bill

Re: '32 Coupe
Hey Bill,
I use black water based craft paint for the panels lines. The real cheap stuff. I clear first then brush on the black, wait for it to dry then wipe off the excess with a moist que-tip. Works pretty easy, if you stuff up, it all washes off anyway.
Thanks Bryce,
1. You should know me by now, your suggestions are always helpful.
2.Makes sence to turn the rims around to give it a dish. I tried to pop one wheel off to have a look but there's no way it'll come off without breaking something. I'll leave these as is but store the new info away for another build. Cheers.
3. There's a few reasons, I like building box stock, it's my comfort zone. I like being limited to what's in the box, using only these parts to come up with something that is still original.
And to have an entry for the Box Stock class at next year's QHME.
Thanks

Love the stripey interior.
I find it very hard to build box stock. Well done.

Re: '32 Coupe
I can see the pics now, looks great, love the interior and I'm with Bryce on the tyres, but rather than modify the wheels I'd have gone with some skinnier rubber, coz the wheels are just right.

Re: '32 Coupe
Well you guys convinced me. Wheels are gone and I'm now going with these ones, from ThePartsBox. So now it's a 96% boxstock
They do look much better though, don't ya reckon? Thanks for your input guys. Just need to fit them a bit better and it's done.
