Ya its another Red Baron,will be making a few changes to this one,this one has Mercedes aircraft engine in it,I will be bulding the show rod with the 6cly pontiac engine,removing the chrome from the helmet and painting it bright silver,built one back in '75 superglue my thumb to the helmet,

Cool, looking forward to your take on the Baron, any progress yet to show?
Not much of a kit, hey Allan. The chrome on my helmet had marks all through it. I had no choice but to strip it.
There's lots of info on the net about the red baron, there's a few different versions. I'm basing my build on this ratty one;

Have not started this one as yet,going to build mine as the show rod,thinking I have a Pontiac motor some were,ya Clutch its a shocking kit Laughing they sold close to 2 million kits of this when it first came out.

just gotten two photos of the Red Baron's engine from the museum were the show rod is,its a Pontiac 6cyl the kit engine is a 1914 merecdes 6cyl. the colour of the Baron is metallic red.

To achieve the tapered part, use the metal ferrul (spl) from artist type paint brushes, lots of different sizes and pretty cheap at the big green shed or Spotlight. Then you just add sprue or Evergreen round rod to the engine end. BMF.paint or weather to you taste.

I have never tried this idea but in Scale Auto they talk about using Solder for Exhaust Pipes. I don't know how you would do it but someone might know Question

I don't think solder would work for the large open bit,still looking for the Pontaic engine in all my parts bits.
