1966 Chevy Nova Street Machine Pro Tourer
Hi again
This is my 66 Nova pro tourer. Its the later AMT 'street something a rather' 1966 Nova kit but didn't have the tubbed chassis as per the instructions but all good either way cause I bought it for what was on the box and I found a second hand Nova kit with a tubbed chassis anyway.
It was a relatively easy kit but there were a couple of others in between this and my Impala to get my skills up a little. It was a guinea pig in trying new skills and turned out better than expected as it was my first masked two tone paint job and bare metail foil job. The BMF took me 3 times to get it to a stage that I was happy with. The pinstripe was also a first and as well as putting the hole in the bonnet.
There are a couple of things I want to change/fix on this kit. I want to swap the motor for the Ross Gibson 'Mouse Trap' that I bought a few months ago. I am not happy with the 6 carbs sticking through the bonnet at the moment and think the injection stacks would be a better suit to get that pro tourer look. The 6 carbs are a little hot roddish, but they were all I had at the time in my parts box and came from the Revell T Bucket kit. I havent got around to building the new motor as of yet but I figured I might as well build a whole new one rather than fix the one in there and try and swap them over without pulling the whole kit apart.
The paint job is two tone Tamiya TS14 Black and Silver Leaf. Sorry I didnt get the number but its a really nice colour in the light. I also brushed the red pinstripe with Model Master lacquer after spending a lifetime masking them. The wheels are from the AMT Fast and Furious Mustang but I have another pair that I have been thinking about cutting the centres out of and dishing the good rear pair for this. This along with a copious amount of lowering and I don't think the Pro Touring effect is far away. I have done some measurements and I might get away with it without having to tub it. Hopefully
The interior is matt beige and has TVs moulded into the back of the seats. I kept the factory steering wheel and changed the shifter to a performance one. The only addition was the 6x9 speakers in the parcel tray.
This is one of my favourite builds so far but like always you learn new things and you start looking at your old builds and start to see where you can improve. Now everything I have built thus far will get some work done to them.
Anyway, enough talking. I will show you some pics now. I hope you like.

Nice colour combo, and I like the carbs through the bonnet look. A very clean build IMO.

Great build and colour choices. How about adding a black wash to the grill to give it a little depth?

Re: 1966 Chevy Nova Street Machine Pro Tourer
Sweet! Don't think I've seen this one first hand yet, got a few surprises for me, eh??
Re: 1966 Chevy Nova Street Machine Pro Tourer
Cheers guys. Chris, I don't think you have seen this one. There were a few surprises, but most have been pulled apart because I wasn't happy with how they turned out. All back in the rebuild phase though, so hopefully once I get back from my holiday I will get back into it in a big way and get some posted.

No idea how I missed this one,Andrew. Real nice first time everything. Interior looks sweet too.Very realistic color. Tidy engine bay,I think the carbs look fine as is. Just a very nice, refined looking ride. Well done. Best to you.Bill
