s29 sprintcar build
I started by modifying a R/M kit chassis to represent a XXX brand chassis that matt was running at the time, added some scratch built components to look more like the 1-1 car followed by some work on the kit wings to make them more up to specs on the 1-1 car then some work to make a new rear nerf bar also to match the 1-1 car started on the fiddly bits purchased some resin body panels made a start on the motor here is where i am upto now in a mock up form with a lick of paint on it, still got miles to go but so far i am happy how it is turning out, hope we have a sprinter fan or two that might be interesterd and enjoy looking

Re: s29 sprintcar build
Kane i cant take any credit for the wheels mate the resin ones in the post were ok but to get a more realistic looking rim/tyre comination i decided to get a diecast car and rob the wheels and tyres from that, they were far more up to the specs of the 1-1 car, a little more shiny than it but i do prefer themKane wrote:Nice work, you're doing a great job. Re: s29 sprintcar build
That probably makes more sense, otherwise I would say you are a master at working with those resin ones.harley fan wrote:Kane i cant take any credit for the wheels mate the resin ones in the post were ok but to get a more realistic looking rim/tyre comination i decided to get a diecast car and rob the wheels and tyres from that, they were far more up to the specs of the 1-1 car, a little more shiny than it but i do prefer themKane wrote:Nice work, you're doing a great job. Re: s29 sprintcar build
Great work so far Harleyfan. I love a racecar build no matter what the type but quality work like this just makes it better.
It takes me back to when I was a young boy at the Whyalla speedway once in the 80's and watching all the action from the passenger seat of my old man's work ute when he got asked to use it as a push car. Good times.

Re: s29 sprintcar build
thanks for the comments Jason the decals were nice but very damaged when i opened them mate, they had stuck together and when i seperated them the colours had bled and smudged all over the place, was told by a mate that envelopes go through a roller system in the postal system and that probably squashed them, managed to save a set that were only partially smudged that i will use on another build (a diecast for my little girl) found a site called Patto's Place that was plugged on another forum i am a member off that did waterslide decals, and got a set from there that i will be using on this build when i finally get to that stage, thanks for your help with the ones you made for me mate much appreciated regards gordon (harley fan)winged wonders wrote:hi gordon awsome job there you doing how were the decals i sent you will they work for this car

Re: s29 sprintcar build
Thanks for the kind remarks guys and taking the time to have a look at my work, I am a very slow builder and this little amount has taken me ages to do, not working at the moment so budget is tight and i wanted a few aftermarket parts for this build that were to say the least a bit costly and had to come from the USA, but i took advantage of the strength of the aussie dollar recently and got all i wanted to finish it of, the motor will be dressed up with some really nice machined alloy A/N fittings from the R/B Motion company along with there tie rod parts for the steering and axle supports, and the rest will be jazzed up with some PE bits for added realism, will post up some more progress as i go regards harley fan

Re: s29 sprintcar build
Looks stunningly good and well detailed.
Red chassis, yellow pannels and V77 on the wing should make it poifect.

Remove the modelling gear in the back ground and add the running gear and it'll look like its a 1:1 car. almost makes me wanna finish my sprintcar.......
