1949 Chevrolet Fleetline.......... Kustom
So here it is, one '49 Chevrolet Fleetline, chopped about four scale inches with a few additional adjustments to it's appearance.
Stock headlamps are frenched into the front fenders, which have been pinched to meet the narrowed roll pan (modified from the kit's customising part). The grille opening is from the AMT '57 Corvette as is the grille, which has had the chrome surround surgically removed.
The bonnet was cut in two and the front lower portion moulded to the fenders, which also feature side coves from the same '57 'Vette that supplied the grille.
The front fender'cove moulding is plastruct round strip and the wist moulding is plastruct flat strip required after the original vanished during the sanding and filling, sanding and filling process.
The rear quarter panels are extended using more of the '57 'Vette body parts and including the 'Vette tailamps. The rolled rear pan was also in the kit but it was cut apart and attached onto the centre piece (licence plate mount) of the AMT Ala Kart rear rolled pan.
Fender skirts are from the kit and the lakes pipes are from the Revellogram '49 Merc kit.
Interior is largely stock, detailed with chrome foil and gold flake, then upholstered with leopard skin over white primer There's a few aftermaket details to liven it up like the dice and Kustoms of LA plaque on the rear shelf and of course the stock steering wheel was swapped for the same part from the '57 Vette.
This was a challenge from the go get-up due to the shape of the fastback roof and just about every other part needed to be ground down or somehow modified to fit together properly in the final assembly.
Despite it not being exactly as I pictured at the start, after a few disasters and challenges along the way, I'm pretty happy with how it turned out.

I reckon you'd have trouble seeing the top of the screen with that chop. Especially from the back seats.
Good job Carps. I look forward to seeing it in the flesh at Baallaarraatt.
