Big Bad Wolf - Peterbilt 359 hot rod
Hi all,
This is my Big Bad Wold hod rod Truck, my goal was to take an old 2nd hand Peterbilt 359 kit, and make it look like a hot rod using 95% original truck parts.
This is what I started with:-
And this is what the Truck is ment to look like:-
This is what I ended up with:-
Modification List
Kit Details
Name: Matchbox AMT Peterbilt 359
Kit Number: PK – 6101
Skill Level: 2
Scale: 1:25
Engine:
Engine block and oil pan chopped.Radiator lowered, tilted back, and the fan converted to a thermo fan.
Custom exhaust and intake pipes made, and painted with alclad II, with heat shrink and aluminium foil used to add extra detail.
Various parts moved to suit new lowered position.
Chassis & Suspension:
Chassis shortened, lowered and Z-ed.Front springs flipped forward to lower front axle and radiator.
Front brakes replaced by ventilated drum brakes made from tomato sauce bottle tops.
Front wheels are from parts box.
Steering set up reconfigured and lengthened.
Rear and midrear axle moved to on top of rear springs, to lower the rear section.
Rear wheels are from an unknown truck kit.
Section cut out of chassis to sit fuel tank lower, and to support radiator.
Fuel tank moved to behind cab, watch winder used as fuel cap.
Cab and body:
Front fenders, hood, mud flaps and step boards all removed.
Cab roof lowered, all holes filled and rivet details sanded off.
Cab lowered over chassis and custom exhaust.
Headlights swapped over and turn on there side.
Front indicators headlights taken from a 1:64 scale 34 Ford.
Brake lights are rear view mirrors from a 56 Ford Victoria kit.
Back indicators are from brake lights from my spares box.
The number plate was made on the computer and printed on photo paper.
Interior:
Seats replaced with seats from a 70’s Pontiac and lifted with bookshelf clips.
Gear shift replaced with a bent pin and tiger tail.
Roof and back lined with fake fur.
Side windows cut out.
This was a lot of fun to make.
Regards Dion

Re: Big Bad Wolf - Peterbilt 359 hot rod
A magnificent model. I first saw this at Tumut NNL and was quite taken by it. So much so in fact that the editor of ModelArt Australia magazine Frank Morgan knew I was the right man to do a story on the truck for the magazine. It's a great example of creativity and modelling prowess. Well done Dion!
