86 El Camino
This was another Evil-Bay Bargain.
AMT 86 El Camino SS
It's not a very nice kit. It seems a bit undersized, parts fit is poor (particularly the nose to body join) and there is a lack of detail.
I've replaced the supplied small block chevy with a big block from an AMT '69 Camaro SS396 convertible (itself a horrible kit), done a RHD conversion and used wheels from my parts boxes. Paint is inspired by the Commodore ute driven by one of our plant operators and decals are from a Fujimi tuning parts set.

Nice build Fred - those colours work well together. You've made the best job out of a dull car (IMO). Well done mate!

Re: 86 El Camino
Thanks folks.
When I bid for it I thought I could graft on the front end of the AMT '70 Monte Carlo but the difference in width is just too huge.

Re: 86 El Camino
Nice work Fred , but the more I look at it the more I see a pro mod pickup in my near future ( picked one up at a club meeting for $5.00)
