Inter Transtar 4200
Hi All,
I've been skulking around this forum now for a few months just checking out all the exceptional craftsmanship on show. Thought I should maybe dip my toes in with a post. This is the first model I have done in about 15 years & my first in this scale.
It's an International Transtar 4200 in 1/87(don't know how serious you take this size here) by On-trak resin products. The sleeper & chassis are from Promotex as are the trailers, mirrors and stacks.
The whole unit has been brush painted except the orange stripes - they're decals. All the wheels were swapped from bud style to spokes and painted.
Scratch built items include air-conditioner, sunvisor, wind screen, twin air-cleaners, bug deflector, mud flaps, bullbar & bull lights.

Re: Inter Transtar 4200
With a horrible red shag pile looking interior! Was a tough looking truck though, was looking at that issue of Trucking Life on the weekend.truges wrote:Cool build there!!. I remember a black Transtar similar to that in Truckin' Life years ago. I like it.
Great detail for such a small model.

Cheers for your comments guys.
Yeah Truges & Checkmate, that black Transtar was my favourite rig of the month from back in the day (still is). From what I know the owner of it, & his 2 brothers, bought a transtar each and they all hauled tippers. One of them lived around the corner from me when I was growing up. It was blue with red & white stripes but with a flat top sleeper. I guess I just used my hazy memory of the 2 trucks to create this one.

Re: Inter Transtar 4200
Top build there mate. 1/87 is not my cup of tea, I like the scale, but my eyes don't. That black Transtar was called Detroit Devil. The guy who drove it was deaf and used it in the quarries on the northside of Brissie. I remember watching him drag that truck at Surfers Paradise Raceway, in the 80's, when they used to have truck drags. He got King of the Road at one meet. It was black with red stripes inlaid onto silver stripes. It also had a red caricature/mural of a devil holding a pitch fork on the back of the sleeper if I remember correctly.

Re: Inter Transtar 4200
It was in the Dec/Jan 81/82 issue of Truckin Life, Doug Bryer owned it. I'll try and fire the scanner up and scan it over the next few days.
