Re: 27th Wagga Model Show
And that it does.
However can't see that it would have had a bearing on the final results
Correct me if I'm wrong--------- wasn't it advertised as a "Modelling Competition" can't recall seeing the word "Plastic" mentioned anywhere
Roll on Tumut -----------where everybody gets to have a go at "Judging" Even--------------those that like to agitate !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Re: 27th Wagga Model Show
Hi all, sorry but I agree with scummy on the di-cast issue. Yes it is a model show, which to me means models built & painted to individual tastes by modellers, not something that is mass produced by robots; if I wanted to see that, I'd go to a toy convention or a toy/hobby shop! Like scummy, I think I'll slip in a couple of standard not been modified, factory painted Biante cars that I have at next years show.

Re: 27th Wagga Model Show
I also agree. the idea of a model comp is to judge the individual MODELLERS skill level, not a diecast mass produced item.

Re: 27th Wagga Model Show
If diecast are allowed to be entered at a model show, it should be only for modified diecast, ------- and then in it's own separate category.
There's no place for out of the box, off the shelf die-cast at a model competition.
Any "Joe Blow" can take a die-cast straight out of a box and put it on a table , there's no skill involved in doing that.
However if this trend continues I might even be tempted to follow others----- and------- have a go at "SLIPPING IT IN" next time
Could possibly need a bit of help with this though, the old memory banks not as good as it use to be.
No laughing or smirking at this comment is permitted either !!!!!!!!!

Re: 27th Wagga Model Show
Gday , ive been led to beleave that the diecast cars are testors kits that ARE FACTORY PAINTED but you have to assemble them by placeing the interior and glass in them and then SCREW the chassis to the body . Now i understand that this can be VERY HARD TO DO ?
Re: 27th Wagga Model Show
Yea--- well as i said, Let them have there own separate category and they can do what ever they like
Just don't lump them in against a model that has to be assembled and painted.

Re: 27th Wagga Model Show
Factory finished and builtup diecast models are collector's items so they should only be shown as display models - nothing more. Modified diecast model cars are in a class of their own anyway, and usually there is a separate category provided for those models. They should not be lumped in with plastic model kit builds IMO.
Diecast model car kits are a different matter. One has a metal body as against plastic. Once I took a 1:18 scale Bburago 1929 Mercedes Benz SSK diecast model kit, stripped the paint from the body, sanded and cleaned it up and repainted it in factory racing colour and numbers. Then I assembled and painted the rest of the model kit. It was entered in the 1988 Vic Wills teams competition and there was no problems from anyone, competitors and judges.
There is every bit as much skill put into building a diecast model kit car as there is in a plastic kit, so IMO those models should be allowed entry into a category for built models. However there should be evidence supplied to show the body was repainted (I provided photographs of my build), otherwise no way!
