Back to the sixties.
So, having completed three for the year including a contemporary style Deuce, I figured it's time to go back in time and do a nice sixties style Deuce Coupe.
Replicas & Minatures of Maryland provided the stock firewall and Buick front brakes, the chromed wheels are from the Modelhause and the tyres from who knows where, I have a bunch opt the same in my tyre dept and they work with the early '60s theme.
After a bit of chassis work, including a new rear crossmember for the transverse spring and quick change diff the stance is about where I reckon it should be for a late '50s early '60s era hot rod.
Rear wheels are reversed versions of the fronts which are '50s era Ford with spider caps. The old style skinny WWW slicks from my wheel and tyre inventory fit perfectly and the rear axle, spring and wheel backs with integrated finned drums are from The Parts Box.
The colour had to be something from the period but not a metallic or any shade blue or red, so I went with a '57 Ford Turquoise and white.
I'm well pleased with how it's looking, almost exactly as I pictured it in my mind before starting.
Making the quick change rear fit was a bit of a chore, but it looks like it belongs now.
The engine is coming along nicely, just hope I don't mess it up doing the plug leads. The crab cap makes them a little tricky for an old guy like me, so I guess I need to make boots for the dissy and to go over the spark plugs moulded into the heads, then insert the leads into them.
Front brake detail is nice, Norm at R&MOM does great parts with fantastic detail. Alclad chrome lacquer makes 'em shine.
The interior tub is pretty much done. I sprayed satin dull coat over the same paints used for the body and chassis.
If I can find a few more spare hours it should be done by the end of the month.

Re: Back to the sixties.
The basic kit is revellogram Deuce 5 Window.
I'm not sure what the engine block is from but I wanted one with an early Ford gearbox and the Revellogram Deuce Tudor has an automatic.
You can't see it in any of these pics but I had to add a new crossmember for the trans and another one down back for the transverse rear spring.
The heads, inlet manifold, carbs, air cleaners and generator /drive belts come from the Deuce Tudor kit. It's worth buying ten of those kits just to get the Navarro heads.

Re: Back to the sixties.
Looks good so far. I like the stock firewall as it adds a little more depth to the detail of the whole model. Can't wait to see it done. (this week?)

Anyway this may help when ordering from their website (which has no bloody pictures!!)

That bit was easy! The '40 Ford Deluxe dash is actually part of the five window coupe kit, along with two different versions of the '32 Ford dash. That's the sort of thing that makes these kits so good, so many options and so many neat parts left over to help build other great models. One thing I've learned about these kits is most parts interchange but that aint all the same. For example, there's a unique steering box and shaft that goes with each different engine option, so when ya use an engine from one kit in another you need to also use the correct steering box.
Anyhow, it's been a bit slow last few days but we're slowly movin' forward.
Photoetched grile from Model Car Garage, shell and radiator (no electric fan) from R&MOM.
Started adding some of the details to sub assemblies whilst trying to figure out the best way to wire the engine.
One of the things that bugs me about the kit is there's a pair of neat '39 Ford teardrops but no chrome bases for them. Cured using the bases from the MCG grille kit and the Deuce licence frame finishes the rear of the car off nicely. There's a bunch of other neat detailing stuff on the metal sheet from MCG.
