´72 Chevelle AMT
Howdy
I´d like to show you my latest build. The Chevelle was planned to be a "Transit" movie replica, but ended up as some sort of a movie car on steroids. The paint is too satin, the cowl hood is too high, the rear tires are too wide and the engine is waayyyy oversized. But hey...
There are still some bits and pieces missing in the engine bay as I need to do some additional work in the future. I´m doing a master for casting new headlights in resin and selfmade etched grilles (various ´71 and ´72) are under construction, too. As soon as i get the parts done, the Chevelle will be finally finished.
Here´s a little preview of the headlight master:
Hope you like it. Comments and critics are much appreciated.
Cheers,
Kevin

It's nasty. I like it.
Time I built something satin black. Haven't done one for a while.

Re: ´72 Chevelle AMT
Thanks for your comments guys.
As it was a little late yesterday, here is some more information about the build.
The raised hood cowl was cut out of the optional hood from Revell´s Nova SS 2in1 kit and fitted to the Chevelle hood using sheet and putty.
The chrome trim on the wheel arches was removed and the crude trim on the side windows was replaced with sheet.
The Dominators and valve covers are resin parts. A friend made the valve covers for the Bill Mitchell Hardcore 632 engine which was seen in the Monte Carlo from Tokyo Drift(in progress, too).
The exhaust lurking out under the rocker panel was stolen from an older AMT Nascar Pontiac Grand Prix.
The rear tires were an option from AMT´s 74 Plymouth GTX. They fit perfect to the Chevelle as there is plenty of room in the wheel wells.
The narrow front tires are from AMT´s 66 Nova Pro Street.
The Chevelle´s rear end was lifted a little bit, front end stance is OOB.
It was a blast to build this model. In the showcase it looks like a brutally intimidating beast of prey between the other models.
Have a nice day
Kevin

Re: ´72 Chevelle AMT
Thanks mates
@Joey:
The engine block, cylinder heads and headers are from the kit. I added a high rise intake manifold from my parts box, some aftermarket resin Dominator carburetors and resin valve covers from a fellow modeler. The Dominators are detailed with a scratchbuilt throttle linkage made of paper and stretched sprue. I added a tiny spring to the throttle linkage. For the spring I used a thin wire that was wrapped around a needle.
Cheers

Re: ´72 Chevelle AMT
Hi everybody
Thanks again for the nice comments. The first pics were a little bit dark, so I went outside and took a couple of new pictures. Enjoy:
Before the new pics were taken, I did some minor work and finished the sidemarkers on the fender and quarter panel.
Cheers,
Kevin
