Dodge Charger 500
i am trying to build a Charger 500, this was an aerodynamic version of the 69 charger without the wing and nose cone
i am using the AMT Dodge Charger issued as the General Lee it has the correct rear window and a hemi, at some time it was issued as a Charger 500, thanks to bigdaddyo i have the correct grille from the earlier issue so it fits perfectly into this body, so far this is where im up to

Re: Dodge Charger 500
Cool! I'll get around to making 1 of these, myself, 1 day.
Are you building a custom version or stock? You'll have to tub the rear & modify the front, to fit those Pegasus's.
I've got quite a few reference pics of the 500, if you need any?
Cheers Cliffo

Re: Dodge Charger 500
thinkin green with white stripe and black interior, only mods apart from the obvious ones will be the wheels and some extra detail on the hemi, the rear wheels fit easily into this kit the fronts also fit but if i want it to sit really low it will need some mods to make them fit

Re: Dodge Charger 500
To make the front lower, you could narrow the front wheels by approx 2 treads on the inside of the wheel, i've found this works well on this type of body, because of the way they go narrow up the top of the fender well. Easier than widening the inner wheel well gap.

Re: Dodge Charger 500
Dv8... Here's some inspiration for ya mate... This was in Mopar Muscle a few years back...
Please, please think about another colour, other than green, it's so.... Bland. Unless you're talking Viper Snakeskin green or Envy Green. I actually have a can of Envy Green ( new Challenger green ) that I had made up & used on my 09 Challenger. I've got plenty left over & could send ya some no probs... If you want?
If you'd like to see how it scrubs up I'll post a pic or 2 here of my completed Chally ?
Cheers Cliffo

Re: Dodge Charger 500
Ok cool mate! Hothouse green pretty similar to Snakeskin green anyway. As long as you weren't gunna do it in a bland dark green or anything

Re: Dodge Charger 500
i was also planning to do a charger 500. i've got the dukes kit and a grille from Modelhaus just arrived.
in 1970 they changed to the winged cars with big nosecone, and the '500' became a style package.
The 500 was basically like the E49 bathurst special, made in small numbers just to qualify for racing homologation (in this case, Nascar). the grille was from the coronet and mounted flush to stop the front being such a drag, and the recessed rear window was changed to a flush one.RetrospectKustoms wrote:Cool so far.
