James Bond Toyota 2000
This is from the 007 movie "You only live twice"; the Toyota 2000GT driven by Japanese female agent Aki. Autoart have done a right good job on this one. Exceptional detail (including all the special gadgets) and accuracy, plus that fabulous big hemi six engine with triple Solex sidedraft carbs. A real treat for sports car fans and James Bond fanatics.

Very nice model. Damn you have some cool die casts, it`s nice to see a collection other than the usual ford or holden.
Interesting fact about this car i found out while researching my Hasagawa kit, which is the Mount Fuji race version. This was the only drop top built by Toyota, done specificaly for the movie. Apparently the cameras could not see the actors inside the coupe, so Toyota cut of the roof.

Looks like a nice model Tezza, but what the hell is a "hemi six engine"? I can see a twin OHC engine.
My Charger's got a hemi, but in name only - it ain't a real one by design...

Re: James Bond Toyota 2000
Thanks Bryce. A "hemi" engine, in its most base form is any engine that has hemispherical combustion chambers, rather than the standard angular chambers of other engines.
While Chrysler registered the word "Hemi" for their six and V8 engines, the actual design had been created way before and so use of the name was restricted to marketing purposes only, but not the essence of the word which is descriptive in engineering terms. Chrysler have no control over that.
The Toyota 2000GT was the result of a collaboration between Toyota and Yamaha. Toyota's standard six 'M' block was used from the Crown sedan, and fitted with a new 12-valve "Hemi" TOC aluminium head designed by Yamaha, plus a new aluminium sump. It was designated the '3M' engine because of its hemispherical combustion chambers.
This is a typical hemi combustion chamber:

It's also interesting to note that Carroll Shelby was so impressed with this engine he fielded a team of two Toyota 2000GT's for the SCCA 1968 season where both cars achieved some wins and placings.
The Shelby Toyota 2000GT:

Thanks Steve. Actually Toyota created two convertibles for the movie. One was fitted with all the working gear and the other was used for close-up shots. Sean Connery was too tall to be seen clearly inside the GT version and so the two convertibles were created in two weeks (must be some kind of auto production record?). Only one convertible survives and it is kept inside Toyota's headquarters in Japan.
