Re: Carps' n Dave's big adventure
Of course no car show happens in Japan without the Crown Classics Club getting involved, so here's a few of my favourites.
Among the very few Tojo bits I do I have a bunch of these badges in my parts stash.
These two door models are rare even in Japan.
The Yoots are my absolute favourites and are rare here in Australia but seem to have survived well in Japan.
Of course if you can't find a Yoot or need more seats a wagon is the next best option.

Re: Carps' n Dave's big adventure
We also met a few movie stars, some we knew and others we didn't here's a few you may also know.
These guys tell me the little truck pictured earlier, with the piggies and saucepan lid wheel-caps also had a bit part in their latest movie.

Re: Carps' n Dave's big adventure
Pretty much all the cars on show have really neat signage…..
Along with some pretty cool accessories…..
Everywhere we went there seemed to be pre painted motorcycle fuel tanks and fenders available for sale…..
The striping folks were kept busy all day long….
Some of the crazier guys………
are also the most tallented.
Some even have staff to help sell the finished goodies…..
I've tried pin striping on coloured paper/card, a total disaster for me, guess I need more practice.
In addition to my almost 6 foot tall Academy Award trophy I also have somehow managed to acquire a couple of mannequins, all I gotta do now is figure out how to make em look this good.
The words practice is easy, finding the time is a whole other challenge.
But the possibilities are endless.
Did I mention the Japanese have a kind of offbeat sense of humour?
I dunno if it is or not but somehow this one reminds me of a pic I've seen of Bert Munro, but without the finger action, call me a sicko but it's one of my favourite bits of art from the show.

Re: Carps' n Dave's big adventure
OK I guess it's time for some muddersickles.
Spotted this soppy little scooter out in the street.
Seems to think it's a two wheeled car.
Inside the show they wuz a whole lot more radical like this all billet monster.
Katies bike was one of my favourites.
They had most styles covered from ultra modern…..
through '60s traditional….
to, ohmygawd whaddisdat?

Re: Carps' n Dave's big adventure
Some of the two wheelers showed a great deal of artistry in the build.
Others were kinda trad style extended fork choppers.
No matter what your taste, as with the cars, the two wheel crowd had it covered.
And this one, even tho it seems to have lost its wheels altogether, looks like a bunch of fun.

Carps wrote:Dunno what it is about this old thing, but I've always had a soft spot for a ute, even owned a few over the years, but there's just something about this one that rings my bells.
Man it's tempting, even now I'm thinking how easy it would be to send an email to the man.
We've got one local here Carps, all original, original NSW issue plates and canopy all in light blue. There's also a shovel nose Corona ute here in town.

Re: Carps' n Dave's big adventure
Since it's Cristmas I'll start today with some model cars.
Sorry this is a bit blurry but it's a modified Hotwheels, the 1/1 scale car was on display in the main area.
This too is a modified miniature Hotwheels, again showing off the Japanese sense of humour.
Did you notice that the tipper/body is a Hotwheels bus and the crane made from a Dragula?
This one shows of the sense of skill, like really, a Winfeild style fade paint job on a Hotwheels Caddy?
The big 1/24 scale models were no less spectacular, like this Honda Civic Funny car.
The Japanese are big into '50s pop art and culture, so all the Ed Roth cars were on display.
And very well done I might add.
Of course the Mooneys Show would require at least one Moon themed model.
As always the NASCAR modellers were out in force, complete with a racetrack diorama.
In fact the entire model display was built around some kind of diorama or other, like this service station and roadside scene.
As we already know, the Japanese are also into anything slightly offbeat.....
And of course aligned to the theme of the show, Volkwagens were also were well represented on the modelling tables.
