Double WIP = Chevy Nova 1966 + Dodge A100
Hello guys!
The thing is that my altezza is finish, so i start my new project for this summer, in this case is a double WIP: Chevy Nova & Dodge A100
The Dodge A100, it will be mainly OOB (out of box), i will change the rims, low it a little and add details...it will be my truck for the workshop diorama
i just make a quick test of rims, and i like the Supra rims, they are not very "sporty" but they suit very good for the truck...i like to hear some opinions
Or i can use this Skyline R32 rims
What do you think?
The other victim, is the Nova, i will go for a simple clean low style like this picture
Still havent decieded if i should go for black paint or that devil red/orange
The rear suspension it will be very easy, i just have to do some supports to attach the diferential and the new rims
The hard part is at the front, there isnt a lot of space, so i have to do the inner part from scratch
(i wont be using this engine, i just put it as a test...i will use the one that cames with the kit which is smaller)
This is the inner part that i have to make
Then, the other "hard part" is the front suspension, because the original from the kit is very poor, very fragile and i couldnt low the car as much as i want, so i have to make some big surgery...i will go for a new 100% scratch build sub frame
Some internet pictures...
And some photos, to see the stance i want to achieve...
We dont have a lot of space...
So i start with the firewall, i will use the original but i will make it simpler
And a first try, to make the new "A" arms...just to give myself a rough idea...
Well i hope you guys like it, and please be free to comment and give me your opinion.

Re: Double WIP = Chevy Nova 1966 + Dodge A100
Hey mate,
These look like they'll be good. :-)
I'd pick the R32 rims over the Supra ones but that's just me. Maybe a different colour.
Also, the reddy-orange looks awesome on the Nova.
Looks like a lot of work ahead. Good luck with it and I'm definately gonna watch this one. :-)
Josh.

Re: Double WIP = Chevy Nova 1966 + Dodge A100
good stuff you could always recess the engine into the firewall and have a Adam Lebreese spec diagonal coilover/airbag setup, was in the last issue of streetmachine I think. Looking great, cant wait for more build pics!

I like your style mate, straight out with the saw, IMO, the nova needs to come down a bit more in the rear, the pair of them should look great when done.

Wooow that front suspension is crazy!!
I guess i will stick to my plan, just a simply dual arm suspension
Also, i find more info and photos about the car, if you are interested you can check this link

Nova's shaping up nicely.
Neither wheel choices really do it for me on the Dodge, old girls need old school rims not Jappo rims but that's just my thinking.
The 5 spokes that come with it are a nice rim.
Cheers Rob

I gotta agree with Checkmate, maybe it could be a shop-truck for the place that built that Nova

Re: Double WIP = Chevy Nova 1966 + Dodge A100
Yeap! that is true, i am not feeling very good with any of those rims, but the good news is that i am going to trade the original tires of the AMT Nova with a friend, for some rims for the dodge A100 that he has. He is a fan of american cars, so i guess that he will show me some better rims for the little dodge...stay tuned!

Re: Double WIP = Chevy Nova 1966 + Dodge A100
Hi guys!
I want to ask you something, because i need help to scratch build a 4 barrel carb
i want to make this carb
But i am not sure about the dimensions, because i have never seen this kind of carbs in my life...so what do you think about the dimension that i put in the chart...are they ok? too big? too small?
I f you can give me some opinions i like to hear them.

Re: Double WIP = Chevy Nova 1966 + Dodge A100
Luchoteam are you able to mail order parts, because there are a number of companies that do 4 barrel carbs in resin, might be easier than trying to build a convincing one?
Just measured my 390 Holley which is a smaller carby than what you have in the picture and I can tell you that dimensions C & D could be bigger:
C = 100mm, D = 60mm
As far as A & B that depends on the size of the carby you are going for, on mine A = 125mm and B= 30mm but again mine is a smaller CFM carby than pictured.
Like the Nova mate, it's looking good and good luck with the front end, I'm sure it'll turn out well. I'm with the other guys too on the wheels for the A100, not those Jap rims.
Cheers TJ

If youve got your heart set on building one up, dont worry too much about exact dimensions, just build it to what you think looks right

Yeah! that is true, but i am very very use to work with plans, dimensions and all that so it is hard to start from cero, but now with the dimensions that "70cudatj" give me will help me a lot.

Re: Double WIP = Chevy Nova 1966 + Dodge A100
Updates!
Starting with this picture....
This is the first prototype, it is very upgradable...but i guess that for the first try it came very well
I started with a slice of 6,4mm to do the main body of the carb.
I draw the main lines, and then i drilled the 4 holes.
Then i used a drill (spherical), to make the holes smother.
Then i used some rods to make the conecctions of fuel.
Preview
The next version of the carb, it will be better...
Chasis work... i did some cuts
Start making the chasis a little more "clean"
Ya va quedando mas despejada la zona
Then i realized, i have to make big surgery, the original chasis didnt work for me...so i removed it
And i did the new sub frame
I did some reinforcement on the floor
Pegamento+plastico+lija+lima de uñas....
I guess that it came very well
Firewall, i add more putty to make it smoother
I have to make the supports for the engines
It needs a lot of work
Now we have space to put those bigs
The chassis always have some kind of "crossbar", so i need flat crankcase
Original crackcase, the idea is to remove the front shape.
Start with the saw....
I add the patch, and some sanding
It finish!
I removed the door handles
VoilĂ !
What do you think?

Re: Double WIP = Chevy Nova 1966 + Dodge A100
Thanks Adam!
I have some updates...
Using the new "sub frame" i started with front suspension
Making of the "A" arms...
Checking everything...
The blue one is still in process
So the A arms were finished, if i took the toothpick out i can removed them.
Add a little piece of evergreen tube to have steering wheels....
This is how it looks
looking god
Some more work....and....
We have steering wheels!
Both wheels...
This is the front brake disk
Next step...
New wheels for the little Dodge...i will use this rims that came with a Ford 32, but the tires are from a Tamiya Skyline which have a better rubber than the Revell or AMT ones
Some testing photos....
And this is the diferential, i will replace it because it looks very bad
Well this is all for now...it was a big update but sooner i will have more news
Cheers!

Re: Double WIP = Chevy Nova 1966 + Dodge A100
Thanks you guys!
I have more updates to show...
I did a little work on the door of the A100, because i want to add an opened window
Original door
I marked the place for the window
And i cut it, so now i have the gap for the window
I sprayed primer over the bodys
More work on the Nova again....
I modified the exhaust manifold of the Ford 32 so i can used them with the Nova, those manifolds arent very sporty or high performance but they are "skinny" enough so i have no problem to install them with the new front suspension
I add the "front firewall" (i dont know how this is called)
With Evergreen rod i did the supports of the inner fender
With a sheet of 0,25mm styrene i did the inner fenders
I add the chrome trim to the hood
But to make it different, i removed the chrome and i glue it to the hood, so when it is finished it will be same color as the car
The beast
And last update....
Last round of primer...
It looks waay better with primer right?
The V8
Exhaust
Battery
Finally some real color...i started with the A100, it will be a 2 color body with white at the lower parts and metallic blue at the top of the body
So i painted the lower part first, with Volkswagen white paint.
The door
I have a little "gap" between the primer and the white color, but i will fix that with a little of soft sanding to erase that "gap"
Chasis/floor
And some other things like dashboard, engine cover, etc...
Well thats all for today, i guess that the next update it will be shorter and i will you show both cars painted
Cheers!!

Man, they're coming along really nicely.
The suspension looks fantastic and it's a shame it's getting covered by the inner guards.
Great work and keep at it.
