Re: 62 PONTIAC CATALINA
Damn that looks good.
I would have used a darker blue but that shade makes me think again. Excellent.

Re: 62 PONTIAC CATALINA
Don't want to hijack your thread but I have a question.
How different is the '62 Catalina (this one) to the '63?
Anyone know?
They look the same in the pics I googled.
I ask because I would love to attempt a "Swiss Cheese" '63 Catalina using this kit.

Re: 62 PONTIAC CATALINA
had a bit of a look at pic myself and rekon that they did use the same body but the 63 grille as markedly different from the 62 also the taillights are different and would require a lot of work

Just doing a bit of poking around and found this:
http://www.internetmodeler.com/2008/september/autos/AMT_60_Catalina.php
He used a GTO as a base kit.
63 Catalina had squarer (is that a word?) body work. Headlights and taillights were completely different also. As was already posted...a lot of work.
This link lists a resin body for a 63 Catalina:
http://www.mcwautomotivefinishes.com/resin/resinlist.html
Don't know about availability, but it's a start. It's a ways down the page, so don't give up...it is there.
Read up on the 'Swiss Cheese'...brilliant...and a wonder it held together.

Really a beautiful model, she was beautiful. I think a wash in the body, in pairs sunken give more life to the model.
Hugs.
