Post by DeeCee Sat 09 Nov 2013, 8:13 pm

Time for a bit of a project i think, the 1:1 is nearly done, and its time to get back into some building.
I have 2/3 of the Max rat Malibu SS, (the chassis is missing), and an old nascar which has been started and butchered, soooo, 1+1 = 1 real tuff street car/ road racer.
Bonus, the wheel base is PERFECT, so this should be a pretty easy kit bash i reckon. (hope).
I'm thinking, 2 x turbo's should get it down the road as fast as it  looks.  Twisted Evil

As a nascar man I like where this is going , and don't forget that black wheels always go faster.

Thanks guys, i'm enjoying this one, having not done much modeling lately.
Well, after thinking the chassis was spot on, i had to lengthen the front clip by about 7mm, to centralize the wheels in the wheel arch. Also had to narrow the diff by about 4 mm, and the same with the front suspension to fit the nascar wheels under the guards. Next, design an inlet set-up that will work with the Twin Turbo's on a Nascar small block. As if 900hp, 12'000 rpm wasn't enough. Rolling Eyes  BUT, you know how the mind can work, the more the better. Very Happy
The stance is spot on i think, and the suspension is relatively Nascar  standard, so would still be fully functional.
Next job, build an exhaust and work out whether i use a big 4bbl carb or make a throttle body style inlet??  (Suggestions welcome please). Smile

Made up a batch of Barbados green, or similar to the molded body colour, with a couple of black race stripes over one side i think Allan. Colour coded bumpers, de-chromed except for the grill mate.

I think it'd look pretty good left in primer grey but with the inside of the body, chassis & interior in the green and maybe green racing stripes over the primer.

Hmmm.  I think I may have just solved a colour scheme problem I was having.  Please ignore me...Very Happy

Great project!
The mock up looks fantastic, lots of attitude! I'm a fan of the primer look too but you can't go wrong with mean green.

Thanks guys, the undercoat theme does look tough, but i just enjoy painting, speaking of which, just out of the paint booth today.  Was going to do some stripes, but the shape of the over sized bonnet scoop i had to make, was going to make them look dickie i thought, so kept it simple with a basic black-out in the centre of it. There will also be a black rear wing and maybe a black chin spoiler aswell, to keep with the high speed theme.
