41 woody
OK, time to get back into it, i built this 41' woody many years ago, and am not real happy with the way it was done, engine bay was not painted, (still silver base coat), front and rear were lowered very dodgely , wood grain decals are peeling off aswell, so have pulled it apart, going to open the rear, line it out and drop it properly-ish.
BEFORE,
Today,
With the smaller wheels, i can lower it a bit more correctly, and get it lower aswell.

My first post,
Hi DeeCee,
New wheels are much nicer, Love the white walls
Looks like you put a fair bit of work into the original build, paint etc.
Any colours in mind.
I'm doing a build of a 64 Thunderbird as an exact copy of my 1:1 car (see Avatar) problem is i'm not sure how to do the white vinyl roof. the black roof on yours looks like exactly what i want but in white. Any tips. Cheers Dave

Your not wrong there Dean, never again,....although i do have another RX7 body, but might give that to Adam, just so i don't haveto do another one.baZOOKa wrote:A wreck-scue Yea ha!! One thing I know for sure ...it wont have a rotary in it hehehe

Dave, welcome mate, and would love to see that T'bird done, at least they make a model of your ride. The vinyl roof on the woody was already on the kit, which i sanded off today, as i want more body colour on it, of which i'm not sure of yet,as half of it will be wood.
The only way i can think of doing a vinyl top, would be to use a stocking, (preferably some one elses) , then lightly coat it with undercoat a few times, which will give you the texture
you require, then light coats of satin white untill you have a good coverage with out losing the texture. practice a couple of times on something else till you get your coats right mate.
Hope this helps you.

Re: 41 woody
There are lots of modelers in this forum but you are one of the few 'builders' mate. This is going to look soooooo good.
Cant wait to see what you do for paint. I just know it will be killer!

TOO kind Dean, reality is, i just like to cut things up, and then need to work out how the hell i'm going to fix it.
Working on the wood work at the moment, and have a couple of ideas in mind for paint, weekend job i reckon.

But at least you do fix it. I like to cut things up, make a feeble attempt at gluing them back together and then but them to one side for ron.
