Mad Max 1 Pursuit Special
This is my build of Max's car from the first movie. It's an Aoshima Road Warrior kit with a mm1 resin transkit from Frank. the kit is the latest release with the photoetch extras. I plan to use the left over upgrade parts to fix up my previously built Road Warrior Interceptor. The build went very well, except for the boot lid, which i had trouble with the hinge and making it fit.
I started with the chassis, which is weathered to reflect being a daily driven car
I found the interior on the new kit has been changed and doesn't fit the inner panels with the door cards (they have separate parts without the door cards). I pulled the interior from the finished kit and started to fix it up. returning the rear seat and adding a new console to fix it up.

Great job, I don't know why they never did this car as a full kit

Perhaps because the second movies was the bigger hit?
Good job.

There is something about the Mad Max interceptor that makes you want to slap on the leathers and drive really fast. It is surely the most iconic Australian muscle car ever built. Nice job

It's all to do with (reproduction) licensing issues.
I really wish Aoshima had gotten the wheels & tyres right on this kit.

Re: Mad Max 1 Pursuit Special
I know it's is(was) a licensing issue, but I think they could have put the other front seat, and rear window and boot, etc, in the kit, and not mentioned it

Re: Mad Max 1 Pursuit Special
I suggested to Aoshima (on their facebook page) that they consider doing this as a kit, and they were considering it. (mad max has a small but dedicated following in Japan).
The conversion kit was bought from a member here (Frank)
Kit was bought direct from Japan Record via AmazonJade043 wrote:great job on this build. Ive always wanted to build this car where abouts did you get the kit if you dont mind me asking

The latest version (fourth issue, i think) has corrected rear rims. it's the newest version with the Photoetch extras.RetrospectKustoms wrote:I really wish Aoshima had gotten the wheels & tyres right on this kit
Re: Mad Max 1 Pursuit Special
I don't know who the Australian distributer of Aoshima kits is but maybe Hobby Link Japan would be able to help.

He use to be on the forum, just ask him.
According to Aoshima when I contacted them their two Aussie distributors were:
1. Australian Hobby Import: bmhilton@brianhilton.com.au (doesn't have a shop but can advise on retailers)
and
2. HobbyCo.
