Post Apocalyptic 1966 Malibu
Hi guys,
I though I have a crack at a post apocalyptic car, I'm going for a cross between a Mad Max 2 car and The Walking Dead.
I'm starting with a built Revell 66 Malibu, the body just had decals but no paint, I don't have a final plan as yet, I'll just see where it go's on it's own.
So far I've replaced the kit rear wheels with some chunkys from a toy 3 wheeler bike, and lifted the rear susp, going to have a big gun on the roof, with a guy sitting on the boot as the shooter.
The front blade is from a cheap toy truck, I'm not sure about leaving the front section off or on as yet.
I still have a lot more work to do, but you get the idea.
Comments welcome.
This is the kit I started with.
This is with the stock rear wheels
This is with the new rear wheels and ride height
This is with the gun & front blade
This is with the gunner seat with the front clip
This is without the front clip

Cool start man!! My ... Lose the front blade, leave front clip on. A good window replacement is fly wire, which should be available at your hardware store.

Iagree with Retro, great start, either lose the blade or atleast the bottom half of it.
She's going to be a beast, thats for sure.

I agree with the other two great start. Really like how it sits high looks so cool. What type engine are you going to put in? I'm thinking big block with high rise manifold might look good

This looks like it's gonna be a fun build........ anything goes with this genre.

Re: Post Apocalyptic 1966 Malibu
Thanks Guys,
The front blade is just sitting there at the moment, when it mounted to the front support, it sits higher and looks better, and I'm going to have tubing or something running from the front, along where the front guards would sit, to the holes near the firewall where the front clip joins.
Jade043 the engine is a supercharged V8, I don't know what it's out of, and it's going to have a mad max style scoop, something rough and rusty, and with mesh over the front, and the blower belt.
I still need to put some lights on it, I have some mesh stuff for the windows, I don't know where it came from, . something I pulled apart.
I'm also going to add some steps on the back and a guy in the seat, and still considering building a frame off some sort around the gunner, and some spikes sticking out the back.

Re: Post Apocalyptic 1966 Malibu
Well I've done a bit more with this one,
I've painted the engine, and started on a frame to protect the gunner (the green bit) another green bit will be added further up and joined with the other bit,
and I cut a hole in the back for a lower platform and escape hatch into the car, (in case the gunner gets over run by zombies. ) I will line this with chequer plate from a cheap shop toy.

Hi again, it's been a while since I done much modelling with moving, etc, but this is where this one is up to,
The front clip is back on and some of the rear body work is done, still thinking of cutting down the front blade.
The inside is almost done, I just need to weather things a bit more.
These are some of the other bits still to go on, the bed roll is made of cheap paper hand towel folded and soaked in watered down wood glue.
I still have a lot of work to do, but it is getting there.
