77 chevy van
ok heres an update on this one thought i'd do a seperate thread for this one as its pretty involved, so i finally managed
to find a hobby shop that sold some evergreen and brass rod, and i managed to make a slide hinge for the side door and
i put felt inside.
so as you can see its just some brass rod bent and some tight fitting plastic tube slid over it and the other side bent to shape, just bent to a U and bent around
just pass the 90 so it clears the flared guards on this van.
in this one i taped the door in place and found out i needed to build the inside runs up
and i carpeted the inside ill do the walls and roof aswell mainly to hide the hinges and then onto the next part which will be the back doors
and bonnet.

Re: 77 chevy van
im doing it sort of the same way as you zen. but its getting the hinges just right so they clear the tail light area and dont stick out heaps. your hinges are alot more pro then mine but haha

Re: 77 chevy van
When I built those I spent a lot of time rolling right up close to the back of panel vans in traffic so I could study how it was done.

Re: 77 chevy van
ok so heres the update ive spent soooo much time on these back doors i never want to see another van door again, the left side opens and closes just fine but the right side catches a little but im happy with i just have to put a tab on the inside stop them from caving into the back of the van, i got the decals on aswell and once the clear sets ill put the windows in and fix the bonnet and grille
