'69 Camaro Twin Turbo RS
This is another one I've had kicking around for a while. Revell '69 Z28 Camaro that I stuffed the paint on, so it has been stripped and is now ready for a new life. Wheels are from the Copperhead snap tite kit and the idea is for a very smooth resto rod. The finished model will be Candy orange with white stripes running a twin turbo small block.
Here's some pics:

Re: '69 Camaro Twin Turbo RS
I need a winter scratch building project, so I'm back on this one (have also got the pro-touring bug after finishing up my Superbee).
I’ve been working on the rear of the chassis – hacking out a lot of plastic and making up a dodgy four link/coil over system.
Here’s how it looks at ride height:
And here’s what I’ve got in mind for the engine…still a fair bit of plumbing and scratch building to be done. Am also debating the merits of running an intercooler at this stage.

Awesome looking camaro happening there. Will be keeping an eye on this one, as I have one of them to build sometime in the next decade or two.

Re: '69 Camaro Twin Turbo RS
Thanks guys - intercooler it is then...more plumbing!
Still debating colour schemes...tossing up between silver/gunmetal grey or orange. Either way, will definitely have a black hockey stick stripe down the side and probably a black interior.

Re: '69 Camaro Twin Turbo RS
A darker silver would look good. Pewter maybe but not as dark as metallic charcoal.
What headlight treatment is it getting? I can picture one with a smoked panel filling the entire front, large cut out in the front valance for cooling in and vents in the top of the bonnet between rad & engine for cooling out.

Re: '69 Camaro Twin Turbo RS
Thanks for the input guys - silver/gray certainly looks good:
Orange looks good too though...
It's getting an RS front like this one (the original inspiration):
I'm hoping the turbos fit under the stock cowl induction hood and the intercooler may not be visible from the front (there's a hell of a lot of room in the front of these things...)

Re: '69 Camaro Twin Turbo RS
I was thinking about your clearance between the bonnet and the turbo's.you might be able to shorten the engine brackets a little

Re: '69 Camaro Twin Turbo RS
To get it to fit under a stock hood i'd try the following.
Lose those exhaust manifolds and scratch up some 4 into 1s from solder. That'll enable you to bring the turbos down and forward. Then use 2 smaller intercoolers with the air in at the ouside edges and out in the middle.
Ditch that Weiand dual quad part and replace it with a scratched up plenum feeding into 8 sparate runners, each with an injector in it. Calling it EFI also enables you to do away with a coil and dizzy. Just scratch up something you can call a coil pack and slap it on an inner wing or the firewall.
Just my

Re: '69 Camaro Twin Turbo RS
Still on the bench Allan. I've been waiting for the weather to warm up a bit so I can do some painting, then I should be able to get back into it and finish it off by the end of the year.

Very cool, I like those wheels, not sure about the tyre pattern.
Fred, you've given me ideas for my build, thanks.

Re: '69 Camaro Twin Turbo RS
I’ve been drifting from one project to another lately, but got interested in this one again so am currently trying to get the body ready for paint so I can finish it off.
So far I have shaved the door handles, drip rails, side marker lights and front bumper. Also opened up the rear quarter scoops to make them functional and converted the front driving lights (never really liked that big round style) into a big slot for my MASSIVE intercooler.
Also been having a crack at plumbing this sucker – so far so good, but it’s a lot of work!
