3 Johns Racing 40 Ford Gasser
1940 Ford Standard Coupe Gasser powered by a supercharged 390ci Ford V8 from a '62 Thunderbird.
Car was then further modified for the more lucrative pastime of match racing by having "illegal" modifications carried out such as trimming the bodywork.
Car then put away for 30 odd years before being resurrected as a "Cackle Fest" car. Owner swears he's going to completely restore it when he gets the time...
It's a 1/24 Revell kit with the engine and rear axle from an AMT '62 Thunderbird. Blower from my parts box. Modified Revell 440 Magnum extractors. Blower drive and straight axle parts from The Parts Box. Scratch built rear suspension. Scratchbuilt interior with seats from The Parts Box. AMT Parts Pack Gasser wheels & tyres.
Paint is Vallejo acrylic and decals are home made.

Wow, that looks great. Nice work. Tell the owner not to bother with that resto. The "Traditional Hot Rod" guys will eat that up!

So cool bud , put it back in the shed so it survives another 30 years .
Re: 3 Johns Racing 40 Ford Gasser
This one ticks all the boxes. One of my favourite cars. One of my favourite types of drag car. And a very cool looking build with a nice back story.

Nice work Fred, looks like the 'cheating' was not just weight loss but a wheelbase extension to help improve stability. Not everybody would notice that, but maybe another cheater.

Well spotted Carps. I can't remember if there was a requirement in the Gas Class rules to retain the stock wheelbase but I did indeed move the front axle forward slightly.
Thanks for all the nice words folks.
