20' EU Container trailer 1:24
Hi
My new project is EU container trailer for 20' container. All parts I will make with CNC. I will use Tyres and mudguards from Italeri.
For drawing I'm using 3D programme. All parts I will make from Polystyrole. I decided that for this trailer I will do 2 chassis, namely one chassis will be designed for Italeri container which it doesn't have right measures, the second chassis will be for real container or tank container. 20' Italeri container has 25cm, the real 20' container has got 25,25cm.

Re: 20' EU Container trailer 1:24
I do not wish to be derisive or belittling of anyone's endevours, however:
Truckmodell, your ability with manipulating Solidworks is admirable, the processing of sldpart files to a CNC machine is a everyday excercise for those in the manufacturing industry, particularly in Europe where Solidworks is the bigger brother to Autocad.
Component downloads are readily available from the D'assalt website. I have been associated with Solidworks, Autocad Designer and Catia for many years, in my other life.
The point I'm trying to make is this, the final output will either be for production runs of the model, or to show your dexterity in ..."Assembling Components".
I have enjoyed modelling as a hobby, for over 40 years, from glue bombs to where i think I am now, it has been a progression of learning and expanding my ability in a very satisfying manner.
I scratch build from dwgs, photos, measurements and notes or come up with iterative designs; always trying to better my ability.
Warts and all, and take pride in being able to say...."I built that!"
I admire and appreciate ALL of the posts on this site and the progression of peoples ability.
More deserved praise should be for the true modellers and their works on this site.
As i stated previously, I admire your dexterity with Solidworks.
Clea.

Re: 20' EU Container trailer 1:24
Hi
Clea thank you for commendation. I draw with Solidworks and have CNC only 2 years.
If you master Solidworks we could collaborate. You could draw some Australian trailer which I could make it on CNC. What do you say about this?
David

Re: 20' EU Container trailer 1:24
David;
My "other life" is Mechanical Engineer, with programs as mentioned. My assumption is you either work in the design area of a trailer manufacturer, or have access to someone who does. As the sldpart's shown have to come from a assembly (1:1) of the systems, with the advent of A3 (desktop) CNC Engravers, it is then a fairly simple process to dump the file down at whatever scale you choose. I'm also assuming you maybe in the Dutch Modellers club, who presented this, or a similar model some years back.
Don't get me wrong David, I admire the replica, and look forward to seeing the completed item, along with the European version of the Drake trailer that is on the website.
I was only alluding to the fact that what you are currently showing is, (simply put) a Manufacturing process, and as a supplier could well be a very lucrative enterprise.
I have no problem with presenting yourself, or others with design drawings in any format that is applicable, I had toyed with the idea a while back when desktop plotters appeared, I have toyed with the purchase of a Scanner, and 3D printer.
I could sit and design trailers, or waste compactors, or tankers or whatever your predisposed to but the quandry then is do you go from a modeller to a manufacturer.
David, you are doing well; we shall talk further.
Cheers
Clea.

Re: 20' EU Container trailer 1:24
Hi
Clea I'm not a qualified civil engineer or technician but I am an electrician and manufactures 20 and 110kV power line.
I decided to buy a CNC because other manufacturers do not make any interesting designs, and this was the main reason, of course, is a consequence of this also that I had to learn 3D drawing and in this I was forced because of the CNC and now I have to admit that I am doing very well.
I'm not in the 'Dutch' club and the products that you will see is my work, it means that I first draw 3D model and then create with CNC, this means that I do prototyp.
I draw in such a way that first of all find the right trailer that could be interesting as a model of themselves and take nootebok. This means that the trailer draw and can solve problems that arise. In the end, everything is 100% copy original trailers.

David,
You are doing extremely well, I will have a look and see what I can find, might be better to contact on a personal message.
What are the largest x,y,z parameters on the benchtop.
