Holiday Snaps
just spent 6 weeks in California and took some pics of a few car events
the first one I visited was at Knights Ferry
Next was a visit to the Blackhawk Museum, this was not what I expected, there were about 40 cars and each and every one was very expensive and perfectly restored
most of the cars in this museum were European and this T bird looked out of place especially as it seemed to be a custom, it did look great and appeared to have some part from a mustang (especially around the rear window and rear end ( couldn't get pics) but upon reading the info sheet this is a prototype and the production models were not quite the same
this rolls was built to the owners specs, yup that's purple paint and a pink ragtop!
im not even sure what this one is (lancia I think) but it sure was weird looking
this one is an Isso Griffo and I do know a little about it, these were an Italian built sports car that came out with a chev engine, early ones had a 327 and later ones had a 427 with a rather odd looking bonnet scoop I like the look of the 327 ones better, the Griffo was considered to be perfectly balanced wich made it handle extremely well, better than most Italian sports cars, only @500 were made over a 10 year period and each one was pretty much hand made, they were prone to rust and now are kinda rare, if I could afford one this would be the car I would like to drive around in, the one in these pics is not one of the regular production models and I was puzzled by some of the details (like the vent in the middle of the bonnet, but according to the info sheet this is the prototype, I liked this one that's why there a few pics!
found this by the side of the road in the foothills of the sierra Nevada mountains
these were on the side of the highway in Auburn
next was a car show in Modesto these two were parked outside
and there were plenty of nice ones in the show also
this one appears to be all original and was driven to the show !
found this one interesting, 65 Pontiac wagon that looked to be original, had a 389
this was under the bonnet, looked like a soft drink bottle but its washer fluid, I remember some one posting pics of a kit that had one of these and there was some discussion on what it was ......now I know
