Aluma Coupe Salt Flat
Now that the Dick Landy Dodge is finished (see The Showroom) I've started the Aluma Coupe. This will be a curbside kit but try imagine a salt flat racer with a twin turbo inline 6 Toyota Soarer engine. With this in mind I added a air scoop into the front left of the coupe and started an exhaust outlet before the right rear wheel. The grill and rear pan has been filled. Resin wheels with hopefully aluminium moon discs. Paint will possibly be cream with bright red scollops or So-Cal style scollops.

Sanded, primed and first colour laid down. Changed the wheel combo when I dug through some kits for alternative wheels. May not bother with moon discs as these wheels may look good once painted the turquise colour I chose. The striping or scollops will also be the same colour as the wheels.

Re: Aluma Coupe Salt Flat
Funny, but bad for the blood pressure.
In a lot of the slat lake* pics i've seen the salt has built up on the tyres to form almost a crust on them. Would rolling a wet tyre in salt achieve this and would it stay there? maybe an experiment is in order.
*Slat Lake - a lake where the water has evaporated exposing thin strips of wood. Good for traction but can be a bumpy ride.

Re: Aluma Coupe Salt Flat
Go check ya kitchen pantry out as Bi Carb or Baking soda should do the trick! I just used dullcote to make it stick, and roll the wheel through some soda on a sheet of paper and when it looks right your done!! That's how I did it on The Bonneville Bastard.
I used the same stuff on the base and rolled the tyres throught it while it was still wet so it looked like fresh tracks.
Tamiya white primer works great as salt overspray on the body etc.
Hope that helps!!

Re: Aluma Coupe Salt Flat
Just luv a salt shaker there's nothing better than a fullblown shaker running flatout down the flying mile trying to acheive the magic 200 m.p.h mark, great job and waiting to see the final build.
