Mad Maxworth?
Hi Guys, this build is for the monthly build off on another forum. Theme is Mad Max, Zombie Apocalypse etc. The build is due this month so it needs to be a quick turn around. I'm not using a kit for this, just going through my spares and scratchbuilding as required.
This is a few of the bits I'm going to use, chassis will be scratch built.
Still a little undecided on cab choice.
Chassis is made from 7.9mm I beam. I'm working on the theory that they didn't have a complete truck to use so parts have had to be scrounged from where ever possible including a chassis. The tread plate patches or to help give it the odds and ends look.
The cross member with the tow eye is from the Krupp Titan kit, suspension is Italeri trailer and the diff is an Auslowe resin item to suit a Scania. Going to make the truck a 4x4, should have tipped the diff backwards a bit more to lift where the tailshaft goes in - you'll see what I mean later.

Re: Mad Maxworth?
Bit more done on this.
The front suspension is from Auslowe and the front diff is Italeri, a Benz kit maybe?
Had to block up the front end to keep the chassis level.
This will be the engine, from a Mack DM800 kit i think. The front belt assembly comes from the Krupp Titan/1418 benz build. I had to take it off to fit the engine under the cab in that build but thought it looked the part here.
Amt radiator and Italeri cross member.
I didn't have a transfer case I could use for this so I made 1 up from a couple of gearboxes.
A couple of truck wheel hubs and a cut down resin Kenworth door handle for some detail. It covers the gearstick hole in that gearbox.
I had to take a few liberties here. Due to the short chassis there was no way I could mount the transfer case separately and fit in 2 tailshafts so I bolted it straight to the back of the gearbox.
I then made up a semi working tailshaft to fit the gap and match the angles.
Yeah, it's impossibly steep but it'll have to do. I even cut the front of the diff off and turned it upside down so the tailshaft went in higher up.
Front tailshaft was a whole lot easier.
The front end seemed a little flimsy so I beefed it up a bit.

Re: Mad Maxworth?
Thanks Al. Bit more done, lot to go.
I wanted a nod to the original interceptor so I'm going with a twin tank set up of sorts using these old transformer bodies.
Thought about setting it up like this????
But I think this looks more like Mad Max!
So aircleaners next. These come from the K100 cabover kit. No way I was putting them on the bonnet sides.
Wasn't quite enough room to plumb the air piping through the headlight holes in the Transtar cab without loosing the headlight shape. It did mean that I had to go with smaller fuel tanks.
Flipped this one over so that the step cleared the tow point. I'll use this one for a flamethrower or something.
This is where one of the weapons for the rig will be. I cut out the back of the Kenworth cab and added steps to the tank so there is internal access between both cabs.
The steps are cut down hand rails, the white seat base will be the gun mount and the airbag is the rear cab mount.
