1960's Speedway Hot Rod Empty 1960's Speedway Hot Rod

Post by Jezza Thu 18 Jun 2020, 11:40 pm

Had some bits and pieces laying around so I decided to build this "Vintage Aussie Speedway Hot Rod"
This '32 depicts a car in the W.A.H.R.A. (West. Aust. Hot Rod Association) raced at the Forrestfield & Wattlegrove Speedway tracks.
(Now long gone).  Crying or Very sad

I'm in the process of scratch building a 70's "Super Modified".  Will post some pics in "workshop" soon.
I would love to build more vintage speedway cars, but don't have the parts I need.
If any of you guys out there have any unwanted 30's to 50's body shells, parts,  decals etc that could help my quest,
please let me know.  I'm happy to pay and cover any postage costs. Thanks for looking in.

Thanks Al G.  Yehhh very reminiscent of the 60's-70's where Mum would pack sandwiches and cordial, and you
were close enough to the track to get dust or mud in your face.
You were even allowed to get close up to the race cars in the pits!.
Dad always had to give the family car a wash when we got home!   Man... they were the days!!!

Yeah good old times Jezza for sure.Used to come home to with mud all over me,me and mates used to always be down the front.I remember i could smell the racing fuel as soon as i opened the car door and would bolt down to the track to watch the Super Modifieds(Sprintcars) as they where then called!..

It is sad... back then 50's - 70's they built their racecars out of whatever they could lay their hands on,
and raced with petrol donated by their local service station.
Now it's all "High Tech" engineering and "Rocket Science" with all the glamour of big $$$ sponsors.
Not the same anymore.   Crying or Very sad
