That's one hell of a trio you've got. I like the middle one best. Are they all yours?

Re: and bikes...... Zed anyone?
Nice. I like the Z1 best.
The memory glosses over how skinny tyres were and that a single disc was considered suitable for the top of the range sports bike!
Nice to see one in (almost - aftermarket pipe I believe?) stock condition. When i was a lad they all got dressed up with alloy swing arms, remote reservoir shocks, 3 spoke alloy wheels, ace bars (or clip ons), skinny fibreglass front 'guards (no rears), fork braces (cause you lost whatever bracing the stock steel guard provided) and if you were really flash a belly pan and bikini fairing.

Re: and bikes...... Zed anyone?
YEP, these 3 plus a few spares.
a very good friend and long term Zed nut does the mechanicals (funnily enough - he works at the local Harley shop fixing less technically advanced machines all day) I do the rest of it
I subscribe to the theory that - NEVER SELL A BIKE, BUYING MORE IS ENCOURAGED, BUT NEVER SELL EM
and yes I have already heard that I can only ride 1 at a time.
the Zed thou is the long termer, 1977 Z1000 I bought 2nd hand in 1984, the old girl has had many changes but got the '83 GPz 1100 motor (1172 kit) 38mm flat slide carbies about 5 years ago, colour is Black Cherry Pearl (yes, a clubsport colour)
The Z1 started as a collection of bits and has taken about 6 years to get this far, not 100% original but I love the original look. Vance and Hines pipe from the States is the icing on this cake
The Z1R is a rescue from a good friend with no respect for machinery (he had it parked outside ??) Nth Qld weather is NOT good to store bikes in............. Its actually a Z1R II 1980 model with '78 model body work, new 1100 Wiescos and heading for the strip ..... eventually
and I absolutely love my Zeds - hence the models etc etc
thanks for the interest and comments guys.
and BTW, those skinny tyres are less than half the price of the the new monster width stuff

Re: and bikes...... Zed anyone?
Looks like I might have to head up and check these beasties out for myself, yeah yeah, I know, I've been coming up for years. Bit jealious to Big Bro as you have 2 bikes on the road and my poor old Chev is still waiting. They say all good things come to those that wait. It better be good I tell ya, I've been waiting a long time
Anyhhot, congrats on getting the second one done, look forward to installments on the next project.

Don't remind me, Flossy needs a new pair of shoes. I'm looking at $600 and that's cheap compared to what you'd pay to shod the current Triumphs.HAMMOSZED wrote:...and BTW, those skinny tyres are less than half the price of the the new monster width stuff

Re: and bikes...... Zed anyone?
The twin leading shoe drums Triumph/BSA fitted in the very early seventies weren't able to reliably stop my 250 single and yet the identical drums were used on everything up to Tridents & Rocket 3s.
