High Skool '40 Deelux.
This '40 deluxe coupe I built the way it probably would have looked had I been able to build one of these instead of my FJ when I was 16. This is also my very first attempt at rust and ageing.
The old gal had the damaged or rusty original panels replaced with those from other vehicles
Paint is grey primer and the hood was cleaned up on one side with holes drilled to replicate where the moulding was missing. Only reason I did this is because the boonet is so poorly moulded it was easier than trying to foil what little impression of the mould exists.
Inside is done in original '40 deluxe colours with a 'real' cotton Mexican blanket on the seat. It's tough to find but if you're game to scour the fabric shops you'll find a few patterns small enough to be cut into a scale Mexican blanket.
The '40 deluxe is on the left showing off it's six carbed 421 Pontiac engine and the stocker is Vince's RM '40 Standard coupe before it was finished. The interesting thing here is bot modles have their good and bad points, if only we could merge them we'd have the perfect '40 coupe to build.

Man these are the greatest of them all - where can I get one of these? Terrific builds carps, as usual. Love the rusted guard and unfinished engine hood.

The '40 Deluxe coupe is the AMT and not hard to find. The '40 Standard is the Revell Monogram kit, which is getting hard to find as the standard car but the Goodguys version which has all the hot rod bits is also readilly available.tezza43 wrote:where can I get one of these?
Dave at Koolkits has them all on the shelf as well as the Lindberg '40 Deluxe kit (which I think is the same tool as the AMT kit) and th RM '40 deluxe convertible. I think he may also still have some of the AMT '40 Deluxe Sedan Deliveries which are getting hard to find as well as the AMT '39/40 Tudor sedan 2 in 1 kit.
