High gloss plastic prep question
I've got an AMT GT 350 Mustang that's molded in a high gloss red plastic that I'm using the interior, chassis, suspension, motor etc as a donor for the SP Eleanor. Question is, cause the kit stuff is molded in that real high gloss stuff, what do i need to do to prep it for painting so the paint won't come off. I'm not real keen on having to sand each & every piece if i can get away with it. Thanks in advance for your tips & tricks.

Re: High gloss plastic prep question
Unfortunately, i think you might just have to scuff it with some wet & dry. Use some 1000 or even 2000 grit, that way the paint WILL stick, and you will be happy with the result. Better than redoing it when the paint pulls off with the masking tape.

Re: High gloss plastic prep question
I wouldn't treat it any differently to any other plastic.
If you are really worried then wash it to remove any mould release that might remain then use primer when you paint.
IMO tape pulling off paint is more due to the tape than the plastic.
