Easy Wired Distributor
I've had it with kits that come with tiny little distributors that are impossible to drill 9 holes in. I pondered on this one this morning and came up with this nifty lil trick.
All ya need is some distributor wire some alum tube about the same thickness as the distributor and a small piece of wire and super glue.
Make 5 equal loops with the distributor wire.. (There will be 10 strands).
Put the small piece of wire through the end with only loops. Twist the wire around neatly.
Cut a piece of aluminium tubing to length and clean up.
Cut off one wire that sticks up on its own off..(We only need 9) You can see in the above picture I have seperated the single wire to cut off.
Now add some super glue to the end of the bunched wires and slip it into the rod you previously cut.
Theres one easy wired distributor.

That is very similar to what i done on the 63 Galaxie and 34 coupe. The only difference is i did not use the copper wire.

Re: Easy Wired Distributor
Don't know what size ally tube that is but the internal diameter of 4mm evergreen styrene tube is almost perfect to superglue in 9 lengths of wrapping wire.

Re: Easy Wired Distributor
I've used fishing line and fuze wire before, but aftermarket model detail wire is better. The Parts Box has some- http://www.thepartsbox.com/ just look under 'engines and drive train'/'wiring and plumbing'. Size wise I guess something around 0.5mm is good, something smaller would be even better but in the end it's up to you. Hope this helps a little.

Re: Easy Wired Distributor
If you have a decent electronics store around, check out their "wrap wire". It is available in a number of colours including white (colour it yourself). One roll will do heaps of cars
Dick Smith and Tandy used to sell it when they were a serious supplier to the hobby electronics people but they have moved on.
There is some listed on Ebay but I have not used it . It is 0.5mm or 0.45mm diam. It looks like what I have bought previously. 30 metres for $17.00 - about 300 + cars?

Re: Easy Wired Distributor
www.thepartsbox will also sell you "pre-drilled" resin dizzies.
You could use them as they come but I find it helps to drill the holes a touch deeper - easy to do as the fact that the holes are there already means the drill won't slip.

Re: Easy Wired Distributor
If you want wire that doesn't kink and comes in lots of colours, use a products they use in jewellery making called 'tiger tail'. It come in various gauges and can be used for things like battery cables, plug leads, throttle cables, bonnet cables, injector lines, air lines and the list goes on. My wife is a jewellery designer and sell the stuff. You can get it at Spotlight, but some of your online stores might have a better range of colours and gauges. If you have any probs finding it, send a p.m. At the moment we only have .45mm in stock in the following colours, silver, gold, black, red, purple, pink and blue. We sell it for $2 for a 2 metre pack.

Hey guys, i found a cheeeeep wire alternative. Strip a length of phone cable of computer cable, you get 6-10 colour options, depending on which one you use, and it aint to bad in size.

Re: Easy Wired Distributor
Only problem with that option DeeCee is it's then horribly out of scale as that wire is about 1mm in Diameter which = 1 inch thick in 1/25th. Best stuff to use is 0.5mm as it looks way better!!
...as a shameless plug, I've still got plenty of 0.5mm wire for sale in 6 colours
