Scratchbuilt (almost) Matich SR3
I built this one a long time ago. I started with a Lancer 'scale' vac formed slot car body. I poured resin into the windscreen area to give me a male master for future glass. As the 'scale' body was too sort in the wheel base I then slush formed a resin body , cut it in half & lengthened it. Using the modified resin body as the male master I put it into silicon to get my mould. I then proceeded to scratch build most of the bits required and vac form the glass. Decals are from Germany, of all places.
When I finished I started on the Matich/Allen Elfin Traco Olds and the Jane Elfin 400 Repco but these have subsequently stalled. Will start on them again shortly.
Tks for looking

Great work there, any chance of getting a closer look at the engine/scratchbuilt parts

A good old Aussie sports car that was driven by a master. Nice work Dave - brought back many memories for me (saw it race at Calder and Albert Park).

That is just beautiful. One of the nicest Australian race car models ever built.

Tks for the comments guys. Can provide more pics, rear shot etc., but it is a curbside, no engine detail, but rear suspension, gearbox, etc.
Apart from the interior (aluminium) all the parts are resin, I just throw pieces I may want in the future into silicon. It tears eventually but I usually get a couple of dozen copies out before it does.

A lot of work and skills gone into this great looking aussie sports car, seen it race at Warrick farm in Sydney. A good article on Matich in a recent AMC .

Nice work Dave!
Where did you get your references from? I've seen an SR4 at a few of the historic race meets but never an SR3.

Tks guys,
I have articles on the SR3 from old Sports Car World mags, a number of pics sent to me from Adelaide & also from Goodwood a few years back. For dimensions I based it on the Elfin 400, Model Cars did scale plans years ago.
Ths Elfin Traco Olds is a WIP and has been for a couple of years. Below is an OLD pic, it has progressed a fair way since this was taken.
Regards
