Jimmy Flintstone resin
Had to share my resent purchase with my Xmas money, found a seller on U.S. ebay, http://stores.ebay.com.au/Nancys-Resin-Lounge?_trksid=p4340.l2563 , who does JF resin stuff. For $114 I got six bodies including postage ($21), sent 11/1/12, received today 18/1/12, to say I am impressed would be an understatement. I think these differ slightly from the ones on JF website as it is bodies only, no interior or anything else but that's cool.
Bodies as follows.
70 El Camino
72 El Camino
51 Chev Sedan Delivery
36 Chopped 3 window
49 Mercury Sedan Delivery
60 Chev Sedan Delivery. Roof looks chopped but looks good.
Have a few ideas as to how I will build them but you will have to wait, I have 6 other cars painted and foiled to finish

Re: Jimmy Flintstone resin
Being resin there will be some clean up but they are pretty good with no visible pin holes, don't look too thick and the windows have a very thin flash on them you can actually push out with your finger. With you on the Mercury Tezza, it's a very nice shape, pretty happy with them.

JF got some good products, i've got a couple myself, 61 Falcon SD & 60 Chev SD. Look forward to seeing what you do with the 60 Chev SD. I've got photos of a 1:1 60 Chev SD & the roof does look that low.

Not sure mate, got the donor kits for the Merc and the 51 Chev and some bits for the 70 Elky, no real preference at the moment.

Re: Jimmy Flintstone resin
I picked up a couple of JF bodies at Pegasus Hobbies on my last US trip. The '39 Merc Coupe was most expensive at US$15.00, '34 Ford Roadster only $10.
The Merc body comes with a grille and nothing else, but the AMT '40 Ford chassis fits perfectly as does the interior tub from the AMT '40 coupe. It's a bit thick in places and the AMT headlamp doors don't go anywhere near fitting well. I'd buy another in a heartbeat. Heck I almost did but lucky I checked the box as it was labled wrong and the thing inside was some abomination that just wasn't anything like a '39 Merc.
Moulding is crisp and it cleans up well with little body work or filling required.
The roadster body is also thick but all the AMT 34 Ford coupe bits work well with it. In fact the fenders are a better fit to the JF body that the AMT body. Reckon it'll build into a halfway decent model.
Artus was telling me tonight that he has the Merc body and cleaned it with prepsol which caused the previously smooth outer surface to craze badly.
I washed mine with warm soapy water and used Tamiya primer, which bloomed badly as if the surface hadn't been properly cleaned, it also peeled off. I thoght this strange as previously the same process has worked on all the resin I've built. Notice the instruction sheet says to use 'automotive primer' so grabbed a can of Holts from Supercheap and used that, result was perfect, then I used too much flake and got a surface like sandpaper that's gunna take a whole lot of clear to fill..

Nice catch dude,
I expect all of them to be finished for our show next month.
they have to be better than Checkmates Dak Dak though.

Re: Jimmy Flintstone resin
Nice buy Tubbo.
These are 1/25 yes? So the '60 SD will fit the Revell '60 chassis (unlike the Tom Daniels body which is too big for it).
What year is the "My name is Earl" Elky?

Re: Jimmy Flintstone resin
Yes, 1:25. Apparently the 60 SD fits the Revell chassis, that's what the suggested donor is, will let you know.
Earl's Elky was a 73 with a 77 door.

Re: Jimmy Flintstone resin
ha ha. it's a 73, "with a powder blue door and the transmission out of a 77 camaro". i don't know, but i don't think the 77 door would fit.Tubman wrote:

Re: Jimmy Flintstone resin
Got the Merc painted and most donor parts sorted, just waiting on a few bits. Should be able to polish it this weekend then I'll get some pics up. Clean up wise it was pretty good, no pin holes or air bubbles at all, window infills were very thin and easy to remove. Body was thick in places which required a bit of work with the old Dremel but it was worth it, the AMT chassis fits perfectly and with the low option suspension it won't need any mods. Still got to decide on an engine, I thought maybe BIG BLOCK CHEV??????? hahahahaha.
