My HQ Monaro GTS

Hi members .
this is my 1973 HQ Monaro GTS 4. Has a V8 308 with Trimatic Transmission. I purchased it in 1974 when it was eight months old. Had 22,000 KLMs on the clock reading now is 476,000 had been used as my daily driver up until the last five or so years. Has had rust removed in the usual places over the years, but has not had a total respray. Hope to have total restoration at some time if funds allow. Although not over sure if I want to go down that path as it gets away from the originality of the car. Apart from being lowered with up rated suspension it is standard.
I have been to most of the Monaro Nationals since the first one in 1998,including the one held at Bathurst where there were 300 Monaro's lined up on the start line prior to doing a lap around the circuit.(only at 60 kays though) Due to changes in circumstances was not able to attend the 2011 event.
I also attended the 50th Anniversary of Holden at the Lang Lang proving ground and did a lap around the banked oval.

Very tidy indeed! I wouldnt go for the total resto if it was mine, I'd stick with the repair as you go method and retain some of it's originality.

thats what i prefer. By the way the colour is Tangerine. Becoming hard to get the correct paint now with them moving towards more safer products.

was the only car i had for along time. Almost traded a while back,glad I didn't.
I have an extra 1/18th Classic Carlectable HQ GTS 4 which I hope to strip back and paint to match mine, will need to change the gearbox though to be accurate.

my brother in law had one just like that ages ago. i don't think he had the traumatic tho, i think it was a four speed. but same colour four door gts.
