'32 Roadster Track Nose
Next project - Too cold in the workshop so posting instead
This one is a very old 32 roadster body via the Silverfox. Thanks mate! Frame is from a '34 I think. The back of the frame has been zedded & the front narrowed to fit the track nose. The front cross member is also move up for a slightly longer wheelbase. Power is a flathead V12 & the cockpit is being moved back a little to give the motor some room There will be cutouts for the seat backs like an early 'Vette. Still a long way to go but i think this one will be interesting.
Have a good one
Brian

That's gonna look sweet when done Brian, front reminds me of the black roadster "tim the toolman" Tim Allen had built in real life.

Re: '32 Roadster Track Nose
You're right It does look a little like a Steve Moal design. Must have been lurking in the back of my mind. He has built some truely beautiful cars.

He does create some incredible cars, its funny how something can subconsciously influence a build, with out really knowing it.

Re: '32 Roadster Track Nose
Thanks for the comments gentlemen
Engine is Parts Box resin along with the front axle & brakes. I cut the spring off the axle & relocated it to give a lower ride. Inlet manifold on the engine has also been thinned down so the carbies won't stick out too far. Engine is fairly basic in detail but then again so was the real thing. I have been trying to work out the porting on the block & it looks like 8 cylinders shared 4 ports & the other 4 had individual ports (both inlet & exhaust) Funny old things. No wonder the OHV Chev motor blew the V8 to the weeds when it came out.
Cheers

Man, that looks cool, sits real nice. Love the nose. You gonna put a severely cut down screen on it?

Re: '32 Roadster Track Nose
Yep the axle has the wire in it so sagging front ends should be history. I got both the tube & I beam to try. The tube suffers a little in not being real round & the I beam has the wire showing a little at the goose neck but these are minor niggles as they are still miles ahead of what comes out of most rod kits with crude steel axle sticking across the middle. Spring & hanger detail are good & give a nice light scale effect. Backing plates & drums are excellent as usual.
Screen will be low & maybe wrap around. I'll wait till the body has been chopped on the frame before seeing what looks best. It is difficult to see now with the cockpit move only half done. Maybe put some headrests on it but then I already did them with the Ice Manx, don't want to get into a rut. A simple full width roll bar might be the go to. thats the best part about doing builds like this... lot of things to try out
Thanks for the comments & questions .... they give me ideas!

Re: '32 Roadster Track Nose
There has been some great rods posted lately, I love 'em
Update time for my tracknose although there doesn't seem much difference from the first photos, just dirtier ... Body is pretty well done, the proportions look OK but I think i will try a roll panel under the tail & remove some of the mould lines at the back to match the cleaner lines at the front. Still have to work out an exhaust that suits the theme. Screen will be split & narrowed & the sides will be tapered down to the back. Frame & engine are actually Italian red not weird pink. Looking forward to finishing this one, it should look a bit different.
Have a good one

Re: '32 Roadster Track Nose
Next update
Body nearly finished, just needs a little more filling & it can get some paint on it. Apart from a little taken off the bottom & the recut scuttle the body & bonnet are stock, just looks different without the standard mould lines. V12 worked out great, sits in there real nice. I am going to "try" to build a drain pipe exhaust out of each side opening & run them low to just before the back wheel. Last thing before paint will be to cut out the bonnet for the carbs - should look OK
Question for the forum!! I was going to run the wrap around low screen (see earlier photos) but how about separate aero screens like the early sports cars just to give a squared off counter point to the clean body lines... ideas welcome !!
