RAAF Fire Truck Empty RAAF Fire Truck

Post by window Tue 21 Aug 2012, 8:08 pm

Hello all. This is my second truck, i did the australian truck a few years ago, but its in pieces now. A mate gave me the 1/24 Revell Shlingmann Fire truck that was already started. I did the body and cab, and then painted it all up.

Now all i have to do is put the mirrors on, and get some deacls made up, and it's done.

A very nice job - well built and finished. I'd like to see this one in the traditional fire engine red too one day.

BTW welcome to the madhouse! Twisted Evil

i used the paint set from: mouse house enterprises. It's a 3 colour enamel aussie military paint set.

after priming, did the base coating the model with the tan, then used blue tac to outline where i wanted the green. i used tape to mask off the rest, then used an airbrush to do the green and black. the paints are fantasic, but you have to use General Purpose thinners, (i got mine from bunnings), and as the paints have a lot of pigment in it, you have to thin them a bit, mix them very well, and spray at a high pressure. (around 40psi). Really good paints though.

Welcome to the forum mate, I must admit I'm partial to not so much military stuff, but definitely military- themed automotive models.
