Re: '36 Forvette!
Good job so far.
Lower it, build running boards and in profile it's going to resemble a swoopy european sportster - Delahaye or something like that.

Re: '36 Forvette!
Love those coach-built Eurocars but I'm looking more for a '60s era USA show rod type appearance
The rear fenders have been surgically removed and I'm trying to figure out the best angle to refit them. If you look at the pics you can see they are attached much higher then the fronts, so however I decide to do them, the top has to align with the top of the front fenders.
I may choose to shorten the rear deck, but I'm more inclined to shorten the bonnet and move the front fenders back.
Prolly wont see much action this weekend, but I'll post more pics when I get rolling on it again.

Re: '36 Forvette!
I think I saw that in a magazine somewhere.
Pretty cool, the rear fenders are closer to where I'm headed with mine.

Re: '36 Forvette!
Well, I've done a little more cutting and glueing, especially to the front fenders end firewall and I'm staring to like the way it's coming along.
Detached the nose from the fenders and removed all the 'metal' that didn't look like it belongs.
I'll make up some fine wire brackets to attach the fenders to the chassis.
Might also relocate the engine a tad further back in the chassis to get rid of a bit of the airspace between block and firewall.
Been thinking about opening up the deck and building a pick up box inside the Vette quarters.
The jury is still out on that idea.

Re: '36 Forvette!
This is working out real good. Front fenders are perfect. Funny thing, I looked at the photos before reading the text & thought it would look good with a pick up bed cut into the rear deck !! Great minds I reckon

Re: '36 Forvette!
I'm really starting to like the look of this. It's got a real 60's show rod vibe. I think the pick up bed idea is ace.

Re: '36 Forvette!
Looks better and better every update, i knew the concept would eventually pan out into something brilliant.

Re: '36 Forvette!
I like the concept. I see the potential, but I have got to say it...something doesn't sit quite right with me. Looks a bit like a push-me/pull-me vehicle. The front leans forward...the rear body line leans back...and the roof line doesn't quite gell with either. It seems unresolved somehow. I agree that the motor needs to be moved back and the rear deck needs more thought. Will I get in trouble for saying this???

Re: '36 Forvette!
Not from me you won't.
The whole idea is an out of proportion '60s style Kustom Rod and it's a-workin' for me.
When I got home this arvo out came the grinder and away went some plastic. Hard to see in the pic but I've reshaped the humps in the Vette quarters to flatten the deck across the rear section and reshaped the sides so the sharp line follows the curve of the '36 fenders. It still needs work but the basic shape is now OK.
So, happy with those changes, I moved the trans and engine mounts to get rid of the empty space between firewall and engine. Also got rid of the blower and found a six carb manifold that better suits the theme.
Finally I added some mounting pins for the grille shell and changed the Halibrand wheels for some '60s era reversed chromies and narrow white walls, slicks at the rear and regular street rubber up front.
It'll now have to sit for at least a week so the spot putty can go rock hard before I spend days, or event weeks, sanding everything smooth enough to paint.
I guess in the meantime I can sort out the interior and build the engine etc..

Re: '36 Forvette!
Went flipping through some old magazines and cruising the net. I see what you mean. If you want that strange 60s custom look then you certainly have it. Some of that stuff is just butt ugly...and yet appealing in its own way.

Re: '36 Forvette!
Glad you now understand it MGY, I blame the Beatles and LSD.
Not a clue on colour, haven't thought about it.
Might just do what I did with the body, throw a few different things in the pot and see what comes out the other end.

Re: '36 Forvette!
Groovy.
I now have the Beach Boys song "No go show boat" installed on my cerebral juke box for some reason.
To really get the 60's show car vibe I reckon you'll need some sort of complicated 'points scoring' exhaust system.
Maybe 4 outlets on each side crammed into the space behind the front wheels?
