Re: Australian Model Expo 2013
Yes. If I go.
You'll love my close up detail pics of Gundams & helicopters...
Here's the link to the expo site.
http://www.modelexpo.com.au/
To quote the site "Monster Swap & Sell to be held upstairs" on Monday.
Monstrous is an appropriate word to describe the smell and behaviour as a crush of malodorous military modelers elbow kick and punch their way into a too small room to squabble over kits they already have.
Car modellers obviously do not behave this way as we are civilised people.
On the plus side, they have stopped calling cars "Civillian Vehicles".

Re: Australian Model Expo 2013
Bump.
I'm surprised Tezza didn't bump this as it is this weekend.
He's probably too busy polishing his nit picks and getting the rivet counter calibrated - he is a judge after all.
Richard Stubbs on 774 ABC Radio Melbourne had 2 blokes on his show today to talk about the event. Stubbsy demonstrated far too much knowledge for him not to be an active modeller still but he didn't admit to building anything.
Someone from Mount Martha texted in a facetious comment about military modellers being weird rivet counters (unlike the "normal" car modellers) which got read out. Ahem.
I am not sure which day I will be going up to expo but I'm toying with attending the Swamp & Sell as it's been a few years since I did that & I really should remind myself of what fun it is & as I now have a job I can buy shit.
Who else is going & when?

Re: Australian Model Expo 2013
"Hmmmmmmmmmmmm"------- An excellent play on words there Fred, and a very interesting question.
I'd love to say more, but then one could be accused of-------- "Hijacking someones posting, too make Silly Comments" ---------so I guess discretion is needed, and maybe one should "tread the fine line" for a while.
Just couldn't help myself, and for those that were silly enough to be offended -------I do offer my most "Sincerest and humblest apology" ---------Until next time!!!!! However in saying that I must admit, I personally was greatly amused by it all.
In hind-site----------- "the right thing was done" ------ it was as we say, over the top, but with my "warped" sense of humor I did think it all rather funny. "Kay Serrar Serrar" as they say in the classics.

Re: Australian Model Expo 2013
Yup I got a few pics, might take a day or two to get them sorted so I can put em up.
Almost forgot it was on till the Mrs reminded me on Saturday..
Remembered too late on Monday why I should have slept in.
Picked up a couple of things I don't really need at that swap meet, Paul got all the Vans and pick up trucks.

Re: Australian Model Expo 2013
Not ALL the vans - see the grail thread.
Did Paul get all the Jo-Han 62 Darts?
All in all I was disappointed by the prices. Most normal AMT or Revell kits were $25. I can get them sealed for $20 from Mornington Toyworld.
I'm just glad I wasn't a rivet counter looking for a specific plane or tank kit as the hoards prevented getting a good view of the stacks on the tables. Only the distinctively different shape of a car kits box enabled me to spot them and know where to dive through.

Carps is just stirring Rob I think Fred, I only saw 3 van kits and the weren't cheap...........I left all the Johan kits as I've got those ones already!
....these are the only kits I took home to the stash, $60.00 well spent,

Re: Australian Model Expo 2013
I should have realised. They were all Dodge vans - Rob only builds Chebbys.
The Jeep and the Blazer are just begging to have their wheels swapped over.
I have far too many pics to post them all.
They are here.

Here though is my favourite paint job
