37 Ford Pickup with Hudson Terraplane Grille
Hey Guys I'm new to the fourm and this being my first post thanks to 70cudatj putting mre onto the fourm...
I have started work on my Revell 37 Ford Pickup, my intentions are to Custom/Ratrod the truck but the piece I really wanted to recreate was a Hudson Terraplane front end or grille which there is nothing out there in the Scale Model World. All this wouldn't of been made possible without the help of TJ....thanks mate!
My plan...
The Grille...Resin cast with the start of the styrene louvres
Mock-Up starting to get the feel...

Re: 37 Ford Pickup with Hudson Terraplane Grille
Well it has been a bit slow with the front end of the 37, one with the heat wave we just had and two the grille was a nightmare to put together but I got there.
Hopefully I will get some time on the cab as I am going to completely rebuild the firewall so I can recess the Caddy motor back and shorten the chassis rails
I don't think I will have an update any time soon...so I hope you all have a great day celebrating our great nations birthday
Thanks for looking!

Re: 37 Ford Pickup with Hudson Terraplane Grille
Cast it, cast it, cast it, the grill that is. I'm sure you'd sell a few that would make you back your outlay, I'd take two for a start if you do.

Re: 37 Ford Pickup with Hudson Terraplane Grille
Are you for REAL ...that nose is brilliant. It would have been introduced to the wall several times if I tried that. Brilliant work.
Re: 37 Ford Pickup with Hudson Terraplane Grille
It has been very slow going haven't touched any styrene for a couple of weeks but getting there...
I decided to cut the original firewall out last night and give it a true rat/custom look, I really want to start on some suspension and chassis work but need to go up to The Parts Box and grab some odds and ends for the rails...lets hope I can get what I need, enjoy

Re: 37 Ford Pickup with Hudson Terraplane Grille
I am back finally after completing the good ol' hobby room, anyway I am trying to get some opinions from my fellow builders!
I have two wheel options for the 37 see what you think and feel free to give us your thoughts!
I would really like to have a set of spoked rims like the ones on my 1:1 pic at the start of this thread.
Option 1:
Parts Box white wall/ Parts Box stock rim/ Revell stock Ford hub cap
Option2:
Parts Box whit wall/ Revell Hot Rod rim 37/ Revell Hot Rod (V8) hub cap

Re: 37 Ford Pickup with Hudson Terraplane Grille
Option 2 but can you make the 'whitewall' narrower ...looks to wide to me ...
Glad to see you back at the bench. I have just about finished my first model for what seems an eternity ...now if I can just find my camera (Moved a couple of weeks ago and nothing is where I thought I put it )

Re: 37 Ford Pickup with Hudson Terraplane Grille
I'd be going with the Revell Hot Rod rim. That size whitewall is perfect for the rear wheels but if possible a smaller tire and whitewall for the front wheels

Re: 37 Ford Pickup with Hudson Terraplane Grille
Hey Guys been hot 'n' cold lately but got back to it late last night...photos are a bit bright and grainy trying out a new app on my phone.
Also some of my pics in this topic have gone as I did a clean up moving everything into folders in my photo bucket account and have broken the link....does anybody know how to get them back?
Working on the stances
Prepping the chassis for suspension
I shaped the cross member out of a bit of 6.3 x 6.3 styrene to house the leaf spring suspension

Re: 37 Ford Pickup with Hudson Terraplane Grille
Good to see you back into it mate, stance is PERFECT i think, nice fabrication work too.
As for your photobucket pics, you will need to repost them i don't think there is a way of restoring them
back to where they were.

Re: 37 Ford Pickup with Hudson Terraplane Grille
Thanks for the encouragement Twon and Dale....Yeah spoke with TJ and we worked out that if you take the photos away from its original place like cleaning up your photobucket account and putting them in folders you will break the link. We also worked out that with Ozbuilders you have only a small amount of time to edit your post then you cannot edit old post...which is what I was trying to do! So all I have done is put those photos back in there original spot...dooh! My OCD is hating it!
