55 chev
Started this through the week, 55 monogram chev Bel-air.
Will be basically stock-ish, except for rubbing its belly on the ground, and some wheels. (maybe that's all).
Am using a turquoise nail polish over black.
WAS thinking these "fat daddy's" by pegasus. BUT, no where near low enough.
SOOO, Pegasus DZ's, but will definately remove the gold first. (metho i think???)

Thanks guys, i had my mind made up on the DZ's in chrome, but, now you got me second guessing, fat daddy's do look good, alot more work to sit it that low, and i was after an easy build after the Comaro, well, it's raining today so there is nothing else to do i suppose. Back to the work bench.

Re: 55 chev
Cheers guys, Joey, you just thin it with multi-purpose thinners, just like you would with auto paint, and then run it through the air brush, i find nail polish does go on alot thinner, so you need a good base then build it up like you would a candy or transparent paint.joey1320 wrote:

A pretty productive couple of days for me.
Under carriage is done, lowered and modified spindles with air-bags.
Cut the boot open and added a lip for it to sit on.
And then some bodywork before paint, the roof and sides had some really BAD wooples in it.
FINALLY, PAINT.
Can't wait to get all the chrome on this and see the colours pop.

Re: 55 chev
There is a word for people like you ...starts with B and ends in astard! You make it look so easy getting a great finish in the paint. That color scheme is just SCHMICK.
Yup once chromed up that will be killer. Now get off the computer and get back to it ! .......

Re: 55 chev
Thanks, and yes, BMF is Bare Metal Foil, it is a micro thin sheet of foil with a sticky back on it. you cut it to a rough size and apply, then trim it with a very sharp scalpel. alot better result than trying to paint around the windows.Jade043 wrote:that looks awesome. Re: 55 chev
This is looking sweet Dale, really like the two tone. Can't say BMF likes me either but I persist because it is the best finisher I reckon.

Also what DeeCee failed to mention is it is quite possibly the single most common reason 'almost finished' models get sacrificed to the great 'wall' god !
Looks great when you get it right ...but the journey is very painfull

Re: 55 chev
The foil job is tops man. I like the boot hack and the neatness of the lip for it to sit in.
You know what.
It peeves me off to go to the trouble and time to build a nice rig and then be disappointed with the paint, I could give up!!!!!

You know what Dave, it's only paint mate, the amount of times i have blocked back the top coat, and resprayed it is un-countable, i had to do it on this one too.
It's just patience and perseverance mate, and alot of re-doing.
Hang in there mate, it will work out.
